Veteran broadcaster Fred Ombachi Machoka today told the court that allegations made by Robert Alai linking him to HIV had damaged his reputation and caused him emotional distress.

The case stems from an online exchange last year involving Nairobi politician and blogger Robert Alai. Machoka says that Alai made defamatory statements about his health on social media.

During the court proceedings, Alai denied owning or operating the Facebook account cited in the suit. He told the court that he neither owns nor operates any social media account, specifically a Facebook account under the name Robert Alai as claimed by the plaintiff.

Machoka is seeking KSh 60 million in damages for defamation. The case is ongoing, with the court expected to determine whether the statements were defamatory and who was responsible for publishing them.

A video of a Somali girl has gone viral on social media and is being widely shared, especially by people from ethnic groups that oppose William Ruto.

The girl had visited the new stadium that President Ruto recently built in the town of Wajir. After recording herself at the site, she said: “Yes, it’s true—the stadium is very beautiful, but Ruto is a one-term president,” meaning that Somalis will not vote for Ruto again.

Other communities are now saying that over the past three days, President Ruto has been in Somali-led regions, where he invested billions of shillings in various development projects, yet they still rejected him politically.

They have taken the girl’s video as representing the opinion of the Somali community as a whole.

A police officer attached to Wundanyi Member of Parliament Danson Mwashako has been found dead in his rented house in Kasarani, Nairobi, in a suspected su***de.

According to a report recorded at Kasarani Police Station, members of the public alerted police after hearing a loud bang from a residential building adjacent to Mount Olive School along Sports View Drive, approximately one kilometre from Kasarani Police Station.

Officers who responded included the OCS, Duty Officer, detectives from the DCI, and Scene of Crime (SOC) personnel.

Upon arrival, they discovered that the tenant of House B14 had locked the door from the inside using the lower lock. The door had to be forced open to gain entry.

Inside, officers found an adult male seated and leaning against a wall with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

He was identified as Police Constable David Sigfrid Ng’ang’a of the Diplomatic Police Unit, currently attached to the office of the Wundanyi MP.

Recovered from the deceased’s right hand was a Jericho pistol, with a magazine containing 14 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

One spent cartridge was also found at the scene. A search of the house yielded a Certificate of Appointment (COA) bearing the officer’s details.

Preliminary investigations indicate a gunshot wound through the mouth, with the bullet exiting through the back of the head. No su***de note has been recovered.

The body was removed to Kenyatta University Mortuary pending a post-mortem examination. Investigations are ongoing under DCI Kasarani.

Muthuri Francis, a Meru man from Ngudune who lives in Kasarani Nairobi, works as a butcher and proudly owns a meat storage fridge that never stays empty for long.

Over the weekend, he travelled to his rural home Ngudune as usual, expecting a normal village visit. Instead, he was hit with shocking news that his mother had sold most of his goats to contribute to buying a car for the church pastor.

Feeling deeply betrayed and probably recalculating his livestock balance in real time, Muthuri wasted no time. He slaughtered the remaining five goats, packed the meat neatly and transported everything back to Nairobi. The goats may have gone one way, but the meat clearly had a return ticket to Kasarani, where it is now safely stored in his ever-ready fridge for sales.
