Marigat Residents Call Out Authorities Over Slow-Paced Affordable Housing Project

Marigat residents have raised concerns over the slow pace of the affordable housing project, which they say has stalled despite being launched nearly two years ago.

The residents claim that some workers involved in the project have gone for extended periods without receiving their wages, creating significant hardship for them and their families.

They have also raised allegations of mismanagement and possible misuse of project funds, which they believe could be contributing to repeated delays and stoppages.

Residents are now calling for urgent intervention, greater transparency and improved management to ensure the project resumes and benefits the local community.

YOUR FEEDBACK: RECKLESS WORDS THREATEN HOPE FOR PEACEFUL POLLS

Via Claire Chemoiywi

As the nation gears up for next year’s elections, political temperatures are rising. Platforms are increasingly awash with hate speech and intolerance. Left unchecked, these utterances place the country on a dangerous trajectory. Leaders must embrace decorum and act with dignity, self-control and adherence to the law. Politicians set the tone for their supporters; they therefore have a duty to model the behaviour they expect others to follow. As 2027 approaches, every citizen and institution must play their part.

I commend the National Cohesion and Integration Commission for enforcing the National Cohesion and Integration Act 2008. Its recent statement is welcome: parties, candidates, officials and supporters who engage in hate speech, incitement, intimidation, violence or disruption of lawful activities will face the full range of sanctions. I urge leaders to carefully weigh every word they put into the public domain. We want peace and will not tolerate conduct that risks plunging the country into disarray.

UPDATE: EPRA REDUCES DIESEL PRICE BY KSh5

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has reduced the maximum retail price of Diesel by KSh5 per litre for the period running from August 15 to September 14, 2026.

In Nairobi, Diesel will retail at a maximum of KSh217.86 per litre, while Super Petrol and Kerosene prices will remain unchanged.

EPRA says KSh938 million in Government Stabilization Support has helped cushion consumers from fluctuations in international petroleum prices.

The new prices take effect from midnight on August 15, 2026.
