OFFICIALLY AFTER 50 YEARS, TALAI HIGH SCHOOL TO CLOSE AS IT TRANSFORMS INTO MOI TEACHERS TRAINING COLLEGE CS APPROVES KSH 100M UPGRADE

After serving generations of learners for over five decades, Talai High School is set to close its doors as a secondary school to pave the way for a new chapter hosting the Moi Teachers Training College.

Education Cabinet Secretary Migos Ogambo officially approved the transition this morning after inspecting the facility, confirming that Talai meets the standards required to operate as a teachers’ college.

The decision comes in the wake of Kabarnet University College enrolling its pioneer cohort at Moi TTC Seretunin. As a result, Moi TTC will now shift to Talai, allowing Seretunin to be fully handed over to Kabarnet University College.

To support the transformation, the Ministry of Education has allocated Ksh 100 million for upgrading and expanding infrastructure at the Talai campus. The funds will go into renovating existing structures and constructing new facilities suited for teacher training.

Students currently enrolled at Talai High School will be redistributed to nearby schools to facilitate the change.

Additionally, Moi TTC Seretunin is undergoing a Ksh 30 million facelift as Kabarnet University College prepares to begin construction of its permanent campus in Kabarnet town.

Baringo Central MP Joshua Kandie, who played a key role in lobbying for the initiative, hailed the development:

“This is a historic milestone for Baringo. The Ksh 100 million upgrade at Talai, the Ksh 30 million investment at Seretunin, and the upcoming Kabarnet University College will significantly boost access to higher education for our youth right here at home.” ~ the Area MP said

"TOS MA JEHOVAH" event postponed for the second time

Kalenjin comedian Senge Hellena has announced the postponement of his "TOS MA JEHOVAH" event, which was scheduled to take place this Saturday, 2nd August 2025, at the Eldoret Showground. The event has been rescheduled to Saturday, 13th September 2025.

This latest development follows the cancellation of the same event by Eldoret Sports Club barely four weeks ago, which forced Senge Hellena to secure the Eldoret Showground as the event date was fast approaching.

In a statement released today, Senge Hellena who declared himself the "New Mau Mau Warrior" during the June 25th protests, said he participated in the Gen Z demonstrations in his personal capacity as a young Kenyan advocating for change, and not as a public figure.

Senge Hellena says that over the past few weeks, he has taken time to reflect on his actions. He admits that his actions angered his fanbase, which is mostly drawn from President William Ruto’s backyard.

Though the comedian did not clearly state the reason for the postponement, he emphasized that his intention is not to create friction or stir antagonistic politics, but rather to promote culture and heritage.

Senge Hellena reaffirmed his commitment to stand by his values and with the youth of Kenya, who believe in a brighter future.

He said the event will proceed on the newly announced date and expressed hope that his fans will continue to support him.

Wishing Senge Hellena well as he navigates these turbulent times in his career.
