Baringo Senator Vincent Chemitei is yet to make any contribution on the floor of the 13th Parliament.

This is according to the latest parliamentary report seen by Baringo News hour which shows that Chemitei registered zero speaking frequency since joining the upper house in December 2025.

The same report has posthumously ranked the late William Cheptumo as the most active legislator in the county, having made 347 contributions in Parliament.

Second in the list is Baringo North's Joseph Makilap with 220 speeches as Musa Sirma of Eldama Ravine take the third spot with 211 contributions.

The participation during house proceedings paints a clear picture of how leaders representing Baringo County engage in legislative work.

A fire broke out last night at the KMTC (Kalenjin Menjo Training College) satellite campus in Nyongores, leaving parts of the institution extensively damaged. Authorities have confirmed that no injuries or fatalities occurred during the incident, and all students and lecturers were safely evacuated.

In the wake of the blaze, learners have been transferred to alternative KMTC campuses to ensure uninterrupted continuation of their academic programs.

The institution’s Senate has launched a full investigation into the cause of the fire. A special committee, chaired by Vice Chancellor Kipisio, is overseeing the inquiry, with efforts focused on establishing the circumstances that led to the incident and recommending preventive measures.

According to KMTC officials, Vice Chancellor Kipisio will issue a comprehensive public statement once the committee concludes its findings.

UPDATE: Police in Bungoma are holding a nurse attached to a private hospital over allegations of ra-ping a Form Three student who had been admitted for malaria treatment and wound dressing.

The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Martin Wekesa, was reportedly caught in the act by a colleague during night rounds.

The victim’s family has alleged a cover-up attempt by the facility, claiming the minor was forced to bathe after the incident.
