Hi, my name is Lydia, and I am the founder of Lumi Heritage, operating under Lumi Investments.
Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work and move through different fields in Kenya and Tanzania, interact with different communities, and see different sides of our everyday lives. One thing that has continued to stand out to me is waste- especially clothing and textiles.
So much fabric is discarded when it could still have a story to tell.
That got me thinking: What if we stopped seeing old fabric as waste and started seeing it as an opportunity?
And that’s where Lumi Heritage was born.
Lumi Heritage is my little contribution towards creating a more sustainable future while celebrating the beauty of African creativity, culture and heritage.
We take fabrics that may have been forgotten, unwanted or left behind and give them a new purpose- transforming them into beautiful, practical pieces that can be carried into our everyday lives.
Because sustainability doesn’t have to be boring.
And heritage doesn’t have to remain in the past.
We can preserve where we come from while creating something beautiful for where we are going.
This is more than a bag.
It is a story.
It is creativity.
It is heritage, reimagined.
