Turkana West has officially launched a crucial vaccination campaign targeting Measles, Rubella (MR), and Typhoid Conjugate Vaccines (TCV) to protect its youngest residents.
The MR vaccine is being administered to children aged 9 to 59 months, while the TCV vaccine is available for those aged 9 months to 14 years.
To ensure wide coverage and accessibility, the campaign is employing a multi-pronged strategy:
• Fixed Post Health Facilities: Vaccinations are available at established health centers.
• Temporary Posts in Villages: Outreach teams are setting up temporary vaccination sites in various villages.
• Mobile Posts at Kraals: Mobile teams are reaching out to remote pastoralist communities at their kraals.
This vital public health initiative is made possible through the collaborative support of the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, the Red Cross, and the Turkana County Government (TCG).
