SECOND YEAR JOOUST STUDENT FOUND MURDERED IN BONDO FOREST.

Alice Riang’a, a 20-year-old second-year Bachelor of Education student at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology, was reportedly last seen alive on Thursday evening after leaving her room at Purple Gate Hostel to meet her 28-year-old Tanzanian boyfriend, Maximillian John Madeni.

According to reports, Alice never returned to her hostel room, raising concern among friends and relatives.

Her decomposing body was later discovered on Saturday by women collecting firewood in the Barkowino Forest area in Bondo, Siaya County.

An autopsy reportedly revealed that she suffered severe blunt force trauma and had also been s*xually assaulted before her death. The discovery that her hair had been shaved off has further fueled speculation and questions surrounding the motive behind the killing.

The heartbreaking incident left her family devastated, with her father reportedly collapsing after identifying her badly decomposed body at the mortuary.

Detectives from the DCI arrested Maximillian John Madeni on Monday after investigators established he was allegedly the last person Alice communicated with before her phone went off. He remains in custody as investigations continue.

Alice’s social media pages, filled with cheerful moments, travel photos and lively posts, now paint a painful contrast to the tragedy that has shocked students, residents and Kenyans online.

Residents of Chesongo and Koisomo villages in Baringo Central are demanding answers after a Sh250,000 footbridge collapsed less than 24 hours after commissioning.

Project chairman Moses Chepkonga said the community had struggled for five years to fund the bridge, and had only raised Sh 50,000, with one Dr Toromo giving a personal donation of Sh200,000 to top up their collection, only for it to collapse before children could use it to get to school.

Residents suspect foul play and have called on authorities to investigate.

The Story of Nadia Cherono Ruto and Her Father, President William Ruto

In the quiet villages of Machakos County, a tiny life was once almost lost before it had even begun. Born and buried just a day after she came into this world, little Nadia Cherono was found by Catholic sisters of Madre Ippolita Children’s Home; fragile, abandoned, her body already decomposing yet clinging to life. With compassion and care, the sisters nursed her back, giving her a chance to breathe, to live, to dream.

In 2015, fate took an extraordinary turn. Then–Deputy President now President of Kenya, H.E Dr. William Samoei Ruto attended a fundraiser at the children’s home. Among the many stories he heard, one pierced straight to his heart; the story of Nadia.

Listening to how this innocent baby had been left to die before her life had even begun, he was moved to tears. In that very moment, he made a promise that would change both their lives forever; he would become her father.

From that day forward, Nadia’s story was rewritten. No longer abandoned, she became part of a loving family. No longer nameless, she became Nadia Cherono Ruto, named after President Ruto’s mother, a sign of the deep bond and honor he bestowed upon her.

Today, Nadia is no longer that fragile baby rescued from despair. She is a vibrant, growing young girl, walking confidently beside her father, the President of the Republic of Kenya. Often seen going to church like this past Sunday hand-in-hand with him, Nadia is a living testimony of love, faith and second chances.

Her story is more than just a personal journey. It is a reminder to the nation and to the world, that every life is precious. That love can rise from places of brokenness. That hope can spring forth from tragedy.

In Nadia, we see the heart of a father who chose compassion.

In Nadia, we see the resilience of a child who was destined to live.

And in Nadia, we see a powerful symbol, that no matter how small or forgotten, every child deserves a home

Mike Sonko was jailed in 1998 after failing to appear in court.

Records show he received a combined 12-month sentence in two cases.

About a month later, he was taken to Coast General Hospital for treatment.

That is where the escape happened.

Reports say he fled custody on April 16, 1998.

Claims later emerged that he travelled to Tanzania for his mother’s burial.

He was eventually re-arrested in 1999.

He was then transferred to Kamiti Maximum Security Prison.

The case did not end there.

In 2001, the High Court reduced his sentence to time served.

He was released.

Years later, the issue resurfaced in court during a corruption case.

Prosecutors argued he was a flight risk.

Sonko said the matter had already been settled legally.

Old records can return years later.

Mike Sonko speaks angrily as he reacts to Conjestina’s trending video: “Wacha sasa nikuwe mbaya. I am not giving any attention to Conjestina this time round, hii familia yake ndio shida kubwa sana.

Mimi nachukua Conjestina, tunakaa vizuri kwa miaka mingi, halafu familia yake inamkujia, wanaenda wanamuachilia. Wakiona wamekosea, wanamtuma aende aseme ati Sonko amemuachilia.

This time simkujii, wacha mtu mwingine amsaidie. Kuna akina Eriko. Enough is enough.”👀
