Did you Know the first bicycle was Invented by a German citizen "Karl von Drais". His machine, known as the "swiftwalker," hit the road in 1817. This early bicycle had no pedals, and its frame was a wooden beam. The device had two wooden wheels with iron rims and leather-covered tires.
The earliest bicycles in Kenya were used by the colonialists: administrators, missionaries, and settlers. Some were given as presents to servants and friends, such as Nabongo Mumia, the first Luhya to own a bicycle and before long the domestic market grew.
