Today, Hon. Dr. Kipronoh Ronoh Paul, alongside key government officials including Dr. Chris Kiptoo (Treasury) and Eng. John Tanui (ICT), joined Governor Wesley Rotich and local leaders in assessing agricultural progress in Keiyo South, Elgeyo Marakwet County.
The delegation visited Kocholwo Farmersβ Cooperative Society, where they witnessed remarkable growth driven by ongoing agricultural reforms. The cooperative currently manages over 630,500 coffee bushes spread across 627.86 acres, producing 91 tonnes of coffee in 2026 and generating KSh 40.95 million, with expectations of higher returns as the season progresses.
Leaders hailed the society as a shining example of how reforms in the agricultural sector are transforming livelihoods and boosting rural economies.
During the visit, the leaders also engaged farmers in Kapkayo, where they distributed high-value seedlings to support diversified farming. The distribution included:
50,000 coffee seedlings
40,000 avocado seedlings
20,000 mango seedlings
10,000 macadamia seedlings
The initiative aims to increase productivity, enhance food security, and expand income streams for farmers across the region.
In addition, the government is undertaking the upgrade of the KipsaosβKocholwoβKapkayo road, a key infrastructure project expected to improve accessibility, ease transportation of farm produce, and significantly boost farmersβ earnings.
Leaders reaffirmed the governmentβs commitment to empowering farmers through strategic investments in agriculture and infrastructure, positioning the sector as a key driver of economic growth.
