Imagine this: a customer hears about your business, searches for you online… and finds nothing.

In today’s world, that silence feels like a red flag.
No website. No recent post. No reviews.

Today, I went for a small eye procedure and the experience was a perfect reminder of how the marketing funnel works when done right.

This wasn’t at my usual hospital (which I’ve been avoiding because of the long queues and wait times. Imagine arriving at 7am, getting seen at 9am, and leaving at noon even after paying for what they call a senior surgeon and express service. The irony? PSSST....Its a renowned private eye hospital. There’s nothing express about it. Very frustrating. That’s why customer feedback matters: if concerns aren’t addressed, patients quietly walk away to better options.

Meanwhile, another hospital kept showing up on my social feed both on Facebook and TikTok. And here’s how they executed the funnel seamlessly 👇

1️⃣ Awareness – Let people know you exist
Their first ad put them on my radar. I wasn’t actively looking for an alternative hospital, but suddenly, they existed in my options.

2️⃣ Interest & Trust – Showcase your value
They highlighted their state-of-the-art equipment and even featured a renowned doctor from Egypt. That positioned them as credible and advanced. I was curious enough to DM them to ask about consultation fees. It felt pricey, so I wasn’t all in yet because I still had the option of going to my usual hospital.

3️⃣ Offer – The irresistible hook that converts
A few days later came another ad: Open Day, Free Consultation, Discounts on Medication. That was the nudge I needed to take action.

Fast forward to today: I arrived at 8:30am, went through triage, saw the doctor, got the procedure done, and was out by 10am. The place was fully packed. And yes, the service was 10/10, minus nothing.

👉 Marketing funnel is that simple when executed correctly. And here’s the truth: you can’t start selling when people don’t even know you exist, don’t trust your value, or don’t see a clear reason to choose you.

The value isn’t in the numbers themselves.

And that’s because, in reality, marketing is a lot less glamorous and a lot more practical:

♦️Putting together offers that make sense for your customers
♦️Following up with leads so they don’t slip away
♦️Building trust one small step at a time
♦️Creating a community that feels connected
♦️Looking at the numbers and figuring out what they really mean
♦️Understanding the customer journey (even when it’s all over the place)

That’s marketing. It’s consistent, deliberate work that turns strangers into customers, and customers into loyal supporters.

Back when I was starting out, finding a mentor was hard. Like, “figure-it-out-via-random-YouTube-videos and Google Docs titled ‘Final Final v6’” kind of hard. 😅

Fast forward to last week at the NOVUS Africa 2025 Cohort 1 unveiling.... and wow, the tables have officially turned. I found myself in a room full of sharp thinkers, bold builders, and fearless dreamers who are actually being backed by a solid support system.

From government reps to techies to trailblazers, we weren’t just clapping for innovation. We were challenging it, dissecting it, and most importantly, supporting it.

And this new cohort? They’re not just potential. They’re pressure. The good kind. The “we’re-about-to-change-the-game-and-look-good-while-doing-it” kind. 💻🔥

In these last moments, decide if you want to offer a satisfying payoff ✅ or create an unsatisfying one 😳 to elicit more emotions. You can also tease a Part 2 🔄 or ask for engagement-like comments 👇, encouraging your audience to participate.

Did you know the first 6 seconds of your video determine whether people stay or scroll away?

When your hook doesn’t capture attention fast, viewers will bounce. A hook is the first part of your content that grabs attention usually within the first 3 to 6 seconds of a video. If your hook doesn’t capture attention fast, viewers will bounce, no matter how good the rest of the video is. Aim for 90% viewer retention within this short window to please the algorithm and boost your reach. 🚀

🎣 What makes a powerful hook?
🔴 Your hook should always include two key ingredients: An emotional trigger 😲😂😡 Make your viewer feel something immediately; shock, curiosity, laughter, fear, or even outrage. Example: “What I’m about to say will offend some people…” (triggers curiosity + tension). Decide upfront: What do I want them to feel; laugh, learn, or react?

🔴A curiosity gap 🤔
Create a sense of mystery or suspense.
