BREAKING NEWS;
Bishop Peter Simon Kamomoe, the Auxiliary Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Wote, has been appointed the APOSTOLIC ADMINISTRATOR OF WOTE DIOCESE effective today Sunday 21st September 2025.
This grants him all the faculties in Wote Diocese.
Bishop Kamomoe takes the mantle from Bishop Norman King'oo Wambua who has been the Apostolic Administrator of Wote Diocese.

Bishop Kamomoe, who has been serving as Auxiliary Bishop of Wote since August 2025, brings with him wide pastoral and administrative experience. He was ordained bishop in 2023 to assist in shepherding the Archdiocese of Nairobi before his transfer to Wote.

The Catholic Diocese of Wote, erected in July 2021 after being carved out of the Diocese of Machakos, covers Makueni County and its environs. With a growing Catholic population and diverse pastoral needs, the diocese faces both opportunities and challenges in evangelization, education, and social transformation.
Since his installation in 2022, Bishop Kariuki Njiru, formerly Bishop of Embu, has laid the foundation for diocesan structures and prioritized evangelization, Catholic education, and social development initiatives in a region often burdened by economic hardship.

On August 23, 2025, the diocese celebrated a moment of grace at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Wote, when Bishop Kamomoe was installed as Auxiliary Bishop. The solemn Mass was presided over by Archbishop Philip Anyolo of Nairobi and concelebrated by several bishops, with clergy, religious, and thousands of lay faithful in attendance. The celebration marked a new chapter for the young diocese as it embraced renewed strength in faith and mission.

With his new mandate as Apostolic Administrator, Bishop Kamomoe is entrusted with ensuring continuity in governance and pastoral care. His appointment signals both stability for the diocese and the Vatican’s confidence in his leadership.

Archbishop van Megen, in his communication to the bishops of Kenya, extended prayerful wishes, inviting the faithful to remain united in prayer for Bishop Kariuki Njiru’s recovery and to support Bishop Kamomoe in his new responsibilities.

HAPPY FEAST OF SAINT MATTHEW, APOSTLE AND EVANGELISTπŸ™πŸŽ‰

BIOGRAPHY

Matthew, the Evangelist who wrote the Gospel that appears first in the New Testament, was different from the other Apostles. He was not a popular man. Many people felt that he was unworthy to be a chosen as a follower of Jesus. Matthew worked for the Romans as a tax collector. The Romans ruled Palestine and the Jewish people in the time of Jesus. They forced the Jewish people to pay taxes to them. Many of the tax collectors cheated the people by charging more taxes than required and keeping the extra money for themselves. The Jews considered tax collectors to be traitors.

In Chapter 9 of his Gospel, Matthew tells a story about how Jesus called him to follow him and how the Jewish people felt about tax collectors. You can read it in Matthew 9:9-13. In this story, the Pharisees, a group of Jews who strictly followed all the laws of their religion, call tax collectors β€œsinners." Jesus knew in his heart that Matthew was not a sinner or a cheat.

Matthew wrote his Gospel for Jewish people who had become followers of Christ. He wanted his audience to know that Jesus was the Messiah that God had promised to send to save all people. Matthew’s Gospel makes clear that Jesus is the fulfillment of everything said by the prophets in the Old Testament.

Matthew is also the only Evangelist who shares the eight Beatitudes with his readers. His Gospel faithfully reports how Jesus described who will be truly blessed by God in the Kingdom and the attitudes and actions that are required for those who follow the new Law Jesus came to bring.

After Jesus’ Ascension, Matthew preached the Gospel, as Jesus asked his disciples to do. It is believed that he established Christian communities in Ethiopia and other sections of the continent of Africa. Tradition tells us that he died as a martyr.

The symbol for Matthew’s Gospel is a man with wings.ST.Matthew Pray for us πŸ™πŸ™

T✝️🍞 Can You Receive Holy Communion Without Proper Confession? 🍞✝️

The Catholic Church teaches that we must be in a state of grace to receive the Holy Eucharist worthily. Here’s what that means:

βœ… 1. Mortal Sin Requires Confession First
If you have committed a mortal sin, receiving Communion without first going to Confession is forbidden.
β€’ Scripture warns: β€œWhoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord” (1 Corinthians 11:27).

βœ… 2. Venial Sins Are Forgiven in the Eucharist
Small sins (venial sins) do not require confession before Communion. The Eucharist itself can cleanse and strengthen us against sin.

βœ… 3. Why It Matters
Receiving Communion in a state of mortal sin:
β€’ Disrespects Christ in the Eucharist
β€’ Wounds our soul
β€’ Is considered a grave sacrilege

βœ… 4. How to Receive Worthily
β€’ Examine your conscience
β€’ Confess mortal sins in the Sacrament of Reconciliation
β€’ Approach Communion with faith, love, and reverence.

🌹 Holy Communion is the Body and Blood of Christ. Receiving it worthily brings life and grace; receiving it in mortal sin brings spiritual harm.
πŸ’– β€œLet a man examine himself, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup” (1 Corinthians 11:28)

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
