Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has dismissed the opposition's proposed People's Budget, describing it as unrealistic and heavily reliant on government data.
Speaking after presenting the Ksh4.82 trillion 2026/27 national budget, Mbadi challenged opposition leaders to develop their own economic projections and financial models instead of repackaging government figures.
His remarks came after opposition leaders unveiled an alternative budget focused on education, healthcare and youth employment.
The exchange has intensified the debate over Kenya's economic direction, with both sides presenting competing visions on taxation, spending priorities and the country's fiscal future ahead of the next election cycle.
