Kiambu doctors are taking a stand. After over 60 days on strike with no response from the county government, they’re now marching, protesting, and demanding action. With salaries delayed, promotions ignored, and court orders defied, the health crisis in the county is deepening, forcing many residents to seek care elsewhere. The KMPDU has vowed to hold weekly demonstrations until the county listens. As health services continue to deteriorate, doctors say they’re not backing down.

Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi has been shielded from arrest, for now. A High Court order has stopped the EACC and ODPP from charging or detaining him as a corruption probe into his administration unfolds. The ruling allows him to continue leading the county as judges prepare for a crucial decision in September. The April raid on his home and the arrest of nine officials raised political tensions, with the governor calling it intimidation.

Citing Kenya’s own post-election healing success, Wendot urged member states to adopt a regional framework for grassroots-led diplomacy.

A damning special audit report has sparked outrage in the Senate, with lawmakers demanding full accountability from the Ministry of Education over the mismanagement of capitation funds. The report revealed that public schools were shortchanged by nearly Sh198 billion during the 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 financial years, while ghost and defunct schools were still receiving state funding. During a heated Senate session on Wednesday, Kajiado Senator Kanar Seki highlighted the shocking disparities, including Sh71 billion denied to secondary schools, Sh31 billion to junior secondary institutions, Sh14 billion to primary schools, and Sh67 billion meant for learners in special needs secondary schools.

The Ministry of Agriculture has launched a national rollout of milk cooling equipment in a bold move to modernise Kenya’s dairy sector, reduce post-harvest losses, and raise farmer incomes. The Sh1.45 billion initiative, launched by President William Ruto last month in Meru, will see 230 milk coolers distributed to dairy cooperatives across 40 counties. The programme is part of the government’s Livestock Value Chain Support Project under the Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA). Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, who flagged off eight additional coolers in Nyeri on Thursday, said the project aims to shift smallholder farmers from subsistence to commercial dairy farming through value addition and improved market access.

Global credit rating agency Moody’s has issued a stern warning to Kenya over its growing reliance on domestic borrowing to finance its ballooning public debt, warning it could severely dent the country’s credit profile and economic stability. In a report released Wednesday, July 23, Moody’s said debt servicing costs are likely to remain high as the government turns heavily to local markets to plug funding gaps, an approach the agency says threatens debt affordability.
