At the heart of this initiative is Ital Groove, an emerging cultural and creative platform rooted in culture, community, and sound. Ital Groove champions African expression through radio, events, and artistic collaboration.

Nairobi’s creative community gathers today at Baraza Media Lab – Industrial Area for an unforgettable afternoon of Art | Music | Poetry | Storytelling | Photography | Videography | Games | Cocktails | Connections | Collaborations | Networking

At Wakati Wetu Festival, we are engaging two questions that sit at the core of our practice. How history is remembered through media, and how memory is returned through culture.

In our media panel, we examine the newsroom as a site of power. From colonial archives that shaped perception to today’s calls for reparative journalism, we ask what accountability in storytelling looks like when history has been partial.

Through the screening of If Objects Could Speak, we move from the written record to the objects themselves. Those that left the continent and took with them stories, memory, and dignity. The film opens a conversation on what restitution means when the loss is spiritual, emotional, and cultural.

Both sessions hold a shared intention. To think critically, to listen deeply, and to make repair a living practice.
