UPDATE: Cabinet endorses stance against Sh206,000 stipend for medical interns, backs directive for Sh70,000, deeming it financially sustainable.

They approves revised guidelines for Parastatals, setting salary bands and allowances for CEOs, Board Members, Vice Chancellors and University Councils.

President Ruto directs that tough measures be taken against “anyone who adulterates an important national programme ~ sub-standard fertiliser.

Members of Cabinet also approved the terms of a negotiated settlement of the commercial contracts and financing agreements for Itare and Arror dams. In the new terms, Itare Dam will be completed, while the construction of Arror Dam will begin.

The Cabinet also approved the purchase of six parcels of totalling 11,000 acres of land in Naivasha, including 6,000 acres for settling squatters and 5,000 acres for industrial purposes.

The Cabinet also discussed and approved the following:

-Kenya’s Ratification of the Treaty Establishing IGAD

-Kenya’s Ratification of the WTO Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies

-Hosting of Eastern Africa Sub-Regional Forum on Artificial Intelligence

-Provision of an Office for the African Economic Research Consortium

-Preparation for the 59th Labour Day Celebrations

-Progress on the Implementation of the 15 Billion Tree-Growing Programme

UPDATE: Kenya Power launches Sh6.5 million electric vehicle charging station in Nairobi, offers free services to Kenyans.

The station comprises of a 50 kW DC (1 hour charging time) and a 22 kW AC (2 hour charging time) charger. It is KPLC’s second EV charging station.

UPDATE: Interior CS Kithure Kindiki has announced that the passport backlog crisis that has affected thousands of Kenyans has now been resolved,

Kindiki says Beginning 1st May, it will take 21 days to produce a passport and 3 days from September 1st.

He also directs the Immigration Department to develop a sustainable plan to ensure that the backlog challenge does not return.

UPDATE: Inspector General Japhet Koome has insisted that he will not allow the doctors' strike to continue if it disrupts the country's progress.

Speaking on Wednesday night, Koome said other Kenyans want to work and continue building the country.

The IG insisted that he would not allow incidences where the striking doctors are blowing vuvuzelas and whistles around hospitals, knowing there were patients inside.
