Two men convicted of the 1965 assassination of Malcolm X are to be exonerated after more than half a century, according to their lawyers.

A 22-month investigation by the Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance's Office and lawyers for the men -- Muhammad A. Aziz and the late Khalil Islam -- found that evidence of their innocence, including FBI documents, was withheld at trial.

The son of Libya's late dictator Moammar Gadhafi appeared for nearly the first time in a decade on Sunday to register as a presidential candidate for a December vote planned to help end the years of chaos since his father was toppled.

Saif al-Islam Gadhafi, 49, appeared in an electoral commission video in traditional brown robe and turban, and with a gray beard and glasses, signing documents at the election center in the southern town of Sebha.

Investigators looking into a series of sightings of a mysterious "jetpack man" flying over Los Angeles say they may in fact have been balloons.

The FBI launched an investigation after several pilots reported spotting "a guy in a jetpack" at 3,000ft (915m) above the city's LAX airport last year.

But now officials say the pilots may have seen inflatables.

Police helicopter footage apparently shows a Halloween decoration that broke loose and drifted into the sky.

The images show what appears to be life-sized balloon effigy of Jack Skellington, from the 1993 Tim Burton film The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Rapper and producer Travis Scott, the organizer of the Astroworld Festival in Houston where at least eight people died Friday night, gave his first on-camera statement in a video posted to his Instagram account Saturday night.

"I'm honestly just devastated," Scott said as he repeatedly sighed and rubbed his forehead.

"We're actually working right now to identify the families so we can help assist them through this tough time," said Scott.

Some concertgoers have criticized organizers for continuing the show even as unresponsive people were being given CPR and carried away, but Scott indicated he was not aware of how severe things had gotten. "Any time I could make out, you know, anything that's going on, you know, I just stopped my show and, you know, helped them get the help they need
