Call for Submissions: Friends of NIB Point Anthologies.

NIB Point Publishers is celebrating eight remarkable years of literary growth and creativity, marked by the successful publication of close to forty titles.

To commemorate this milestone, we are excited to launch a special feature through a project titled 'Friends of NIB Point.' This project will bear two books. A collection of short stories and a collection of poems.

We invite interested writers to be part of this celebration by submitting original poems and short stories for consideration. Each contributor may submit up to three poems and one short story.

All submissions must be theme and age-appropriate, suitable for Junior and Senior School learners. We encourage material that addresses emerging issues and promotes positive values.

Writers are also required to include a short profile (bio) alongside their work.

The deadline for submission is 2nd January 2026.

The dog has been man's most loyal friend. And, as a show of his loyalty to Art, Bob Odhiambo has released his second book, 'The Dog of Nyakach'.

A collection of 'doggy' stories and poetry that he's done with our other friend, Jotham Koli of the speakeasy fame. Dude knows all the drinking holes in Kampala, Uganda.

The thing I like about Bob, Jotham and their book is how real they have decided to get. See, dogs know no shame! A he-dog will mount a she-dog right in the church. As if that's not enough, the two would get stuck and pull each other towards the pulpit!

This here, is a collection of uncensored stories for everyone who feels and lives like a dog!

(Beer thoughts 🍻)

Just outside my house, there is a church where people do partake matters of the heart. Blessings galore! Directly opposite the church, there is a place where matters the throat are well taken care of. A happy moments place where men find time to discuss a variety of issues ranging from politics, sports and occasionally women while imbibing some frothy stuff made in Ruaraka.

Sooner than later, a lot of truth, English and happiness is witnessed. Occasionally, truths can lead to jabs and blows. It's a church too. My kind of church. Most evenings, you'll find my ilk and I preaching the gospel here. Our favourite Bible verse being "The place where Jesus turned water into wine or The place where Noah was covered by his son."

In this Church of ours, every man is a haunting story that you wouldn't want to be a part of. Each man and woman here is a shell of what they hate to be. Unfortunately, what they hate to be is the truth and what the truth beholds for them.

Sadly, even the people at the real church opposite our "Church" are also shells who hate the truth and that's why they seek comfort from the Bible and Priest. This tells me that ultimately, we are all drunk and sober at the same time and that we have the comforts and hideaway chances we take to keep on dreaming and keep all our hopeless hopes alive.
