🌍🌱 This World Environment Day, Inuka Bidii Youth Organization took action!

We marked the occasion by launching a tree planting initiative within our local communities in the Bidii area — coming together to green our spaces, restoring ecosystems, and growing a healthier future for all.

We utilized this day by involving the local community members and the elderly within our community as a way of building a stronger network of social and cultural synergies.

We planted a total of 340 indigenous, fruit and timber trees in public spaces and institutions around Bidii ward.

Every tree planted is a step towards cleaner air, richer biodiversity, and a stronger bond between people and the planet.

The initial cost of farming production remains a big barrier to food production and security to most farmers.

Through a partnership journey signed on Friday, 30th May 2025 between Humanitarian Engineering & Social Entrepreneurship (HESE) at Penn State and Inuka Bidii Youth Organization , we will strengthen access to tools to partner farmers in Bidii Sub-County, Trans-Nzoia County. This is after receiving some handheld tools for the tool rental trial project kicking off this month.

This project is dear to us as it is part of our two initial projects that will boost our work in transforming the wellbeing of the community members.

Trans-Nzoia County, amongst the endowed food baskets of Kenya, still have farmers experiencing challenges in accessing better tools and machines for initial production of food - yet this is the highest economy earner and employer for the County.

Our work has seen farmers being supported to access simple tools and advanced mechanization at a sliding fee, yet our desire to extend and advance the same have still remained low.

As a way of collaboration to advance this program, we met with partners from Penn State University to forge areas of engagement that will see us boost the farm tools for improved productivity for the farmer and increased revenue for the county. This is through their programmes dubbed Tools2Thrive under the Humanitarian Engineering & Social Entrepreneurship (HESE) at Penn State anchored in Kenya by Kisumu West Aid - CBO .

"Husika," a Swahili word meaning "get involved," is a project by Youth Alive! Kenya, supporting citizen participation in the accountability process.
Inuka Bidii Youth Organization contributed to this noble cause by participating in a three-day training held by Youth Alive! Kenya at Kisumu Social Hall on November 6th - 8th, 2024. The training aimed at strengthening citizens' capacity for evidence-based advocacy toward fiscal accountability and transparency.

Additionally, the training addressed the budget cycle, audit report analysis, fiscal transparency best practices, SMART advocacy efforts, and effective techniques for writing memos and petitions.
