Peace Event in Kalobeyei – A Day to Remember!
Today, we had the privilege of hosting a powerful peace event in Kalobeyei, bringing together over 300 youth from the community. We took this time to engage in meaningful conversations, share ideas, and promote unity and understanding among young people.

Peace Dialogue with Youth at Alnuru Primary School, Kakuma 3
Today, we had an inspiring youth dialogue session at Alnuru Primary School in Kakuma 3, bringing together students and peace trainers from HLB (Hope Lives Bright) to openly discuss the causes of conflict and explore possible solutions.

Key Causes of Conflict Identified:

Lack of basic needs

Poor leadership

Tribalism & religious differences

Drug abuse & peer pressure

Forced marriage & gang involvement

Unemployment & sexual violence

🛠️ Suggested Solutions by the Youth:

Elect leaders based on ability, not tribe

Promote religious tolerance and teamwork

Educate communities about the dangers of drug abuse and gang activities

Empower individuals to make positive life choices

Raise awareness on r**e, its consequences, and the importance of community security

Encourage inclusivity in all community activities

Youth Recommendations:

Continue engaging more schools and communities across Kakuma and Kalobeyei

Strengthen the partnership with HLB to expand peace-building efforts

Keep the dialogue alive—youth voices matter!

Today, Story Matters Entertainment met with youth from Kakuma 2, 3, and 4 for an engaging discussion on self-awareness and peacebuilding within Kakuma Municipality.

Today we were filming a strong and emotional story about insecurity in the camp — a reminder of what can happen when we forget who we are and stop standing for each other.

This story calls us to remember our status, to stand up for our friends, brothers, and families, and to protect each other no matter what.
Together, we can make this camp a safe place.

We highlighted the vandalism of water pumps and how this damage is impacting access to clean water for everyone. Story Matters: Day 1 Wrap!
We’ve officially kicked off production of Story Matters, an educational film set to be screened in Kakuma Municipality!

This powerful project is a collaboration between local creatives in Kakuma and the Kakuma Cultural Municipality. The film aims to raise awareness around social behavior and inspire positive change within our community.

Yesterday, we held a vibrant Youth Dialogue at Turkana Cafeteria in Kakuma 1, and the energy was incredible!
The session focused on self-awareness in peacebuilding, with young people actively sharing their experiences, challenges, and practical solutions to issues affecting youth in the community — including insecurity, unemployment, and social division.
The dialogue created a safe space for youth to open their minds, exchange powerful ideas, and take ownership of the change they want to see.

Participants requested more regular dialogues and debates to involve even more youth in creating sustainable peace and development in Kakuma.

Thank you to everyone who showed up and spoke up. The journey to peace starts with dialogue — and the youth are leading it.
