As we approach the 16 Days of Activism on Gender, Story Matters Entertainment — in partnership with Refugee Basketball Initiative, and with support from UNHCR and LWF — organized a Girls Basketball Tournament to involve girls and women in this important campaign.

The tournament brought together amazing energy from both Kakuma Refugee Camp and the host communities, showing the power of sports in uniting people and raising awareness on gender equality.

Appreciation Post – Play for Change Tournament
A big thank you to all the teams who participated in the Play for Change Tournament! Your dedication, teamwork, and discipline were truly wonderful. The games were played peacefully and respectfully — this is exactly the spirit we want to see in Kakuma.

Special congratulations to Mapro, the champions of the tournament! Your effort and sportsmanship inspire us all.

Yesterday’s game between Arena and Natiri 1 was played peacefully under the Play for Change Tournament. It was a great display of teamwork and sportsmanship from both sides. Yesterday we officially kicked off the Behaviour Change Sports Tournament at Okapi Field! A big thank you to UNHCR for the support and to LWF for working together to make this event possible.

The tournament aims to bring people together, promote peace, unity, and positive behaviour within our community. To make it even more special, we included musicians and cultural performances, adding a unique and vibrant touch to the games.

Let’s continue to play, unite, and inspire change through sports and culture!
