American and Grammy Award-winning gospel musician and pastor Donnie McClurkin denies allegations of sexual assault, r**e, and coercion recently lodged against him by his former personal assistant.
The lawsuit, filed on Friday (Jan. 2), accuses the Grammy Award–winning singer of sexually abusing a former congregant and personal assistant, identified as Giuseppe Corletto, over a period spanning nearly a decade.
Corletto is seeking financial damages for alleged sexual assault, sexual battery, and violations under the Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Law.
He alleges that he sought McClurkin’s spiritual guidance while struggling with his sexuality, influenced by the pastor’s public testimony and writings about being “delivered from homosexuality.”
The lawsuit claims that McClurkin later hired Corletto as his personal assistant, and that during their professional and ministry-related travels, McClurkin began sexually assaulting him.
Corletto claims he attempted to leave McClurkin’s employment multiple times but was coerced into staying, allegedly being told that his “deliverance” and “purpose” were tied to McClurkin.
In response to the allegations, McClurkin issued a public statement through his attorney, Gregory S. Lisi, Esq., categorically denying all claims.
He described the accusations as “false, contrived, and untrue,” and stated that he has never engaged in sexual misconduct or abused his position, leadership, or influence.
In his statement, McClurkin acknowledged the seriousness of sexual violence and emphasized that survivors deserve to be heard, protected, and supported.
McClurkin also noted that while he has not yet been formally served with the lawsuit, he is cooperating with appropriate legal processes and intends to vigorously defend himself against what he described as a baseless and defamatory case.
Perfecting Faith Church has not publicly commented on the lawsuit. The case remains pending, and no court determination has been made at this time.
