Abu Azrael alias Angel of Death.

From university lecturer and Taekwondo champion to the "Angel of Death," the story of Abu Azrael is as cinematic as it is controversial. Ayoub Falih Hassan Al-Rubaie, the commander of the Hashd al-Shaabi (People's Mobilization Force), has reportedly resurfaced this time in Tehran.

While not yet officially confirmed, the man who became a cult personality for allegedly killing over 1,500 ISIS fighters was recently spotted in the Iranian capital, posing for photos with residents. Sources suggest his visit isn't social; he is reportedly consulting with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard to strategize against potential U.S. ground invasions.

Al-Rubaie’s reputation as a figure feared by U.S. Special Forces is decades in the making. He first gained notoriety in 2003 fighting American troops with the Mahdi Army before shifting his focus to ISIS in Iraq and Syria. He is famous for his chilling slogan, "Illa Tahin" meaning he will grind his enemies into dust.

However, his fame has a dark side. To many, he is a symbol of brutal sectarian violence, frequently accused of executing detainees, destroying civilian property, and openly celebrating the torture of his enemies. Whether viewed as a legendary defender or a war criminal, the "Angel of Death" remains one of the most polarizing figures in Middle Eastern conflict today.

On Thursday evening, a report was filed regarding the disappearance of 18-month-old Mary Wanjiru Muhinja from Gondo, Tetu Constituency, Nyeri.

Her mother, Ann Mwandaki, reported that on Wednesday, she had left the child in the care of a relative, 21-year-old Linet Wangechi, while she went to do laundry. Linet was entrusted with Mary alongside her own child of a similar age. When Ann returned around noon, Mary was nowhere to be found.

An immediate search yielded no results, leading to a formal police report. Linet, the last person to be seen with the child, was taken in for questioning on Friday morning and spent the night in custody.

This morning, representatives from Team Kujituma Nyeri, led by Caroline Ndirangu, joined the pursuit of justice. After consulting with the area chief and local police, they were granted time to speak with the suspect. Under persuasion, Linet finally agreed to tell the truth.

She alleged that she had left the house with Mary to go to a shop, leaving her own child behind. She claimed that after receiving a piece of sugarcane, the children began to fight over it. Linet admitted to hitting Mary during the scuffle. Upon realizing the toddler had collapsed and was lifeless, she carried the body to a nearby river and threw it in.

Following her confession, Linet led Team Kujituma and DCI officers to the scene. A local diver recovered baby Mary’s body from the water shortly after. The suspect later claimed she was "possessed by the devil" at the time of the act.

Linet Wangechi remains in police custody as investigations continue. Rest in peace, little Mary.

Salim Rashid Mohammed, alias Chotara or Turki Salim, went from being an A-grade student in Mombasa to one of the most wanted terrorists, with a KSh 10 million bounty placed on his head.

He was eventually found guilty of killing a police officer and being a member of a terrorist group, and was sentenced to death.

Ali Chotara was born in Mombasa, Kenya. He completed high school with an A- and later traveled to Turkey to pursue a degree. However, he was deported back to Kenya after authorities discovered he was attempting to sneak into Syria to join a terrorist group.

Upon his return, he was charged in Mombasa, but the court later released him. He was arrested again at Moi International Airport after being linked to terrorism. Once more, the court released him on a KSh 1 million bond, and that was the last time he was seen in Kenya.

He later fled to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where he joined the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), an extremist group. He appeared in a propaganda video linked to the group.
He was eventually arrested in the DRC by members of the public while attempting to flee to South Africa.
When he was arrested, the soft spoken terrorist confessed to have beheaded one of captured DRC soldiers as a move to show his commanders his bravery.
He was prosecuted, found guilty, and sentenced to death.

Mohamed went to Qubaa Nursery in Mvita and later joined Qubaa Primary School, before being transferred to Abu Hureira Academy, where he sat the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education exam in 2010 and passed.

He joined a private secondary school in Mombasa in 2011 and sat his KCSE exam four years later, emerging as one of the top candidates.

Mohamed was selected to join the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology but was not interested.

He was later enrolled at the Technical University of Mombasa to study computer engineering but dropped out after the first year.

He later enrolled for a certificate course in computer studies at Abraar Muslim School, after which he went for computer engineering studies at Istanbul Kultur University in Turkey.

He was deported from Turkey on suspicion of being a member of Isis after being found at the border headed to Syria. He was charged with the offence at Shanzu Law Court in 2017 but was acquitted for lack of evidence.
