UPDATE: A group of Kenyans & activists gathered outside the National Archives in Nairobi for a night vigil and candlelight ceremony to honour Kenyans and others who lost their lives in the recent post-election violence in Tanzania.

Elsewhere, Tanzanian intelligence, working discreetly with anonymous foreign allied operatives, successfully infiltrated the multi-layered architecture of the destabilization plot, exposing external handlers, local proxies, and cyber-units designed to trigger post-election disorder.

Through synchronized counter-operations, they disrupted logistical hubs, detained key coordinators, and dismantled strategic influence cells that were preparing to exploit political tensions for geopolitical leverage.

According to senior officials familiar with the briefings, the plot emerged in the tense months following President John Magufuli’s death, when foreign policy strategists were recalibrating their expectations for Tanzania’s trajectory.

They believed President Samia Suluhu Hassan might soften positions on privatization, Mining laws, NGO regulations, and foreign commercial access, but her insistence on sovereignty disrupted these assumptions.

As disappointment set in among certain Western actors, Tanzanian intelligence began picking up discreet funding transfers, encrypted cross-border communications, and unusual movement patterns involving opposition-linked operatives traveling frequently to Nairobi.

Museveni says the region needs a stronger,
united defence to protect itself and avoid situations like Libya, where foreign powers intervened without an African response.

He argues that small, divided states can’t guarantee long-term security, while a unified force would give East Africa more stability and strength.

His push comes at a tense moment, following his recent remarks about possible conflict with Kenya over access to the Indian Ocean.

UPDATE: Public Service CS Geoffrey Ruku has criticized Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of double standards in his political messaging to Mt. Kenya residents.

CS Ruku questions how the former Deputy President could urge the Mt. Kenya region to elect “qualified professionals” to Parliament while simultaneously campaigning for what he described as a benga musician in the Mbeere North constituency.

He argues that leaders must remain consistent, especially when advising communities on the kind of representation they deserve.

UPDATE: Saboti MP Caleb Amisi warns broad-based government could destroy ODM due to lack of legal structure.

Amisi argues that the proposed arrangement bears no resemblance to previously successful political partnerships such as the Grand Coalition under President Mwai Kibaki or the post-handshake collaboration with former President Uhuru Kenyatta

According to Amisi, the lack of a legal backbone and clearly defined negotiation framework makes the current push highly risky for ODM, potentially exposing the party to internal fractures and long-term political instability.

The remarks come at a time when national debate on political inclusivity and power-sharing continues to intensify, with ODM leaders appearing divided on the best path forward.

UPDATE: Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo has issued a sharp warning to Kenya Kwanza leadership, insisting that the party will not support the emerging push for a broad-based government if it is intended to diminish the party’s stature or reward a select few with government appointments.

Speaking firmly, Odhiambo says ODM is “a big political party” with a national footprint and cannot be reduced to bargaining for village-level positions or scrambling for Cabinet slots under the guise of inclusivity.

She stresses that any political arrangement must respect ODM’s identity, ideology, and long-standing struggle, adding that the party will not be coerced into deals that undermine its institutional strength.
