UPDATE: Renowned Pan-Africanist and lawyer, Prof. PLO Lumumba, has arrived in Lodwar, Turkana County, ahead of the East Africa Legal Empowerment Summit (LES25).

The summit, scheduled for tomorrow, Monday at the The Cradle Tented Camp - Lodwar, will feature Prof. Lumumba as the keynote speaker and other High-profile leaders, including judges and lawmakers.

SPOTLIGHT: Is UDA Party Turkana Chapter Facing Silent Cracks and Growing Division?

The ongoing by-elections in Turkana have exposed divisions within the UDA party, particularly around the governor’s influence. A recent meeting convened at Deputy President Kindiki’s office brought together all UDA-affiliated politicians from the county, with the notable exception of the governor.

Sources reveal that the county’s Woman Representative, a close ally of the governor, received notice of the meeting at the eleventh hour. Her presence in Parliament, however, enabled her to attend.

Observers note that the governor is under increasing pressure to enhance his visibility within UDA, as political rivals appear to be capitalizing on his absence to influence perceptions inside the party.

Meanwhile, the by-election has attracted three UDA candidates, each enjoying the backing of different political heavyweights. The contest, widely viewed as a showdown between Hon. Nakuleu, Hon. Epuyo, and governor Lomorukai, is expected to determine who consolidates political authority within the party.

Alex Iman Ekal, the President of the Students Council at Turkana University, has thanked everyone who attended the Turkana University Freshers' Night. The strong turnout and positive atmosphere showcased the unity within the community. Special appreciation was given to artists Mr. Seed, Bunsen Burner, and Balozi the Icon for their memorable performances.

Iman also acknowledged University CEO Prof. George Ndiema Chemining'wa and Dean Rev. Jackson Iruko for their commitment to student welfare, as well as Mr. Silale and his security team for maintaining safety during the event. He encouraged everyone to continue embracing the spirit of unity and excellence as the semester progresses.
