DAY SIX | NADUAT GOLD MINE RESCUE
Six days after miners were trapped underground in Naduat, Nakalale Ward, local youths are still risking their lives trying to rescue them.

Residents say the Kenya Red Cross and some security officers visited the site once, but left the same day and have not returned. The young volunteers say they are now running out of manpower, food and water, with some already giving up.

Residents are questioning the response from the county and national governments, as well as humanitarian organisations.
Tomorrow marks Day Seven. The miners remain underground.

The figures raise a critical question: How does a single 5,000-litre tank end up costing taxpayers half a million shillings?

UMP Party Leader Hon. Kawira Mwangaza joined a planning committee meeting ahead of the Linda Mwananchi Rally scheduled for August 30 in Meru County, reaffirming the team's commitment to ensuring a successful, well-organized and impactful event.

Speaking after the meeting, Hon Mwangaza expressed confidence that residents would turn out in large numbers to support the gathering and give a warm reception to the Linda Mwananchi team, led by H.E. the 6th President, Edwin Sifuna.

She noted that the people of Meru are known for their peaceful and welcoming nature, adding that organizers are looking forward to a visit that will be peaceful, successful, and fruitful for all attendees.

Mwangaza also called on supporters of the Linda Mwananchi movement and all like-minded wananchi to join hands in welcoming the team and making the visit memorable and impactful.

The total number of casualties is still unknown as search and recovery operations continue.

Austine Ewoi Defends Hon Ekwom Nabuin, Dismisses Running Mate Claims.

Austine has dismissed as false and misleading claims circulating on social media alleging that Hon. Ekwom Nabuin is being considered as a running mate to another candidate in the 2027 General Election.

In a statement, Austine said the reports were baseless and intended to mislead the public. He urged those behind what he described as propaganda and innuendos to desist from spreading misinformation and to respect the ongoing political democratic process.

Austine acknowledged Hon Nabuin and many others invested in the political strength and success of Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai,Napotikan but he bit the same hands that fed him and betrayed the course. History will not repeat itself over and over again. Lomorukai should resign to his fate by either quitting the race for Hon Nabuin or wait for a resounding defeat at the ballot.

He maintained that Hon. Ekwom Nabuin remains firmly in the race for the Turkana gubernatorial seat, saying the decision to vie for the county's top seat was informed by the wishes and aspirations of the people of Turkana.

According to Austin Turkana deserves a calm, tried, and tested servant leader who is capable of restoring accountability, inspiring hope, and delivering meaningful development across the county.

He reiterated that Nabuin remains focused on his gubernatorial bid and is committed to serving the people of Turkana.
