Governor Mutula Builds House for 80-year-old Woman Left Homeless After Electricity Pole Incident.
Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr. has come to the aid of Esther Kamesi Mwinzi, an 80-year-old resident of Katunyoni village in Mbooni West, whose house was destroyed by a fallen electricity pole in 2024.
Esther narrowly escaped harm during the incident, which left her house completely demolished. Following the accident, Kenya Power decided to pay the woman, Ksh 19,145 as compensation which was not sufficient to rebuild her home or restore stability. As a result, she lived without permanent shelter, relying on the goodwill of neighbors for temporary accommodation.
Upon learning of the situation, Governor Mutula intervened and facilitated the construction of a new, fully furnished house for her. The move restored her sense of dignity and provided her with a safe and comfortable home.
The governor reiterated his commitment to supporting vulnerable members of the community and ensuring that no one is left behind, particularly the elderly and those in distress.
This intervention reflects the Governor's dedication to upholding the welfare of his people and addressing urgent needs with compassion and action.
