DCI'S EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM OFF TO RWANDA FOR THE SWAT CHALLENGE

The Director DCI Mr Mohamed I. Amin has yesterday flagged off the Emergency Response Team of the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit to represent the nation in the SWAT Challenge during the 26th Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation (EAPCCO) Annual General Meeting being held in Rwanda.

The Challenge seeks to assess the preparedness of the member countries' in responding to terror threats, while at the same time sharing best practices that are pragmatic in addressing modern-day security challenges that affect the region.

In his remarks delivered by the Chief of Forensic Services Madam Kuraru, Mr Amin acknowledged that the security of the member states depended on how well each player safeguarded their own nation, ultimately realizing a more safer and habitable region where people and the economy could thrive.

The DCI Chief lauded the efforts the counter terrorism detectives were putting in hunting down terrorists and thwarting their deadly missions in various parts of the country, pointing out that the efforts were globally recognized hence the invitation to participate in the EAPCCO AGM.

On her part, Ms Kuraru conveyed her optimism in the team's preparedness for the task ahead, further calling on its members to uphold Service discipline and represent the nation well.

The week-long challenge whose assessment will see the SWAT teams ranked based on their performances in tactical maneuvers, shooting and snipping, weapon handling, hostage rescue and evacuation and agility among others will take place in Rwanda's capital, Kigali.
