THE TRUTH ABOUT POKOT BOY THAT NO ONE WANTS TO SAY LOUDLY

It's time we stop sugarcoating and say it as it is. Pokot Boy joined the Kalenjin Banger music scene through a door that was opened by Mr. Real Pokot the pioneer and founder of the movement. But what followed next is nothing short of betrayal, pride, and selfishness.

NO RECOGNITION TO THE PIONEER
Since stepping into the industry, Pokot Boy has NEVER publicly recognized or appreciated Mr. Real Pokot the very man whose vision birthed the Kalenjin Banger wave. How do you walk through someone’s foundation and pretend you built the house alone?

THE "OKUMBÖ TAGH" SAGA
We all know the viral hit Okumbö Tagh the song that put Pokot Boy in the national spotlight. But behind that fame is KASETO, the real brain behind the catchy verse that everyone sings today. Yet, to this day, Kaseto remains in the shadows, uncredited, unappreciated. Instead, Pokot Boy claimed the spotlight and ownership of a song he didn’t create alone. Where is the integrity?

SELF-CENTERED RISE
Despite performing on big stages, Pokot Boy has never lifted even one fellow Pokot artist with him. He chooses to walk alone, keeping the gate locked behind him. This isn’t growth it’s selfishness dressed in success.

SILENCING THE REAL VOICES
Now, when bold voices come out to question this unfairness, they are labelled haters. But they are NOT the problem they are the voice of truth in a system that continues to ignore fairness and brotherhood.

Let’s be clear Pokot Boy may be smart and strategic, and yes, he knows how to take small opportunities and turn them into big wins. That’s commendable. BUT success without gratitude, humility, and lifting others is hollow.

The Pokot music industry deserves better. We must support artists who are not just about themselves, but about the growth of the whole community.

I have received a deeply concerning message today from a teacher at Tuwo Primary School, located in Loruk Location, Loyamorok Ward, Tiaty Constituency, Baringo County. The teacher explained that pupils at the school are currently learning under a tree due to the lack of classrooms. With the rainy season now underway, the teacher noted that learning had come to a stop because the children have no shelter. The teacher described the situation as a serious challenge and appealed to well-wishers and concerned individuals to come to their aid.

Photos shared from the school paint a heartbreaking picture young learners seated outside under a tree, striving to learn despite the difficult conditions. Their determination is admirable, but without proper infrastructure, their education is constantly disrupted.

Tuwo Primary School currently has 250 pupils, but only two classrooms, despite offering education from Pre-primary all the way to grade 6. This means that the majority of learners are forced to study outside in the open, exposed to the harsh weather conditions.

This is an urgent call for action. These children deserve better. They deserve classrooms, shelter, and a chance to succeed in life through education. No child should be left to study in the rain.

I urge well-wishers, local leaders, government agencies, and organizations to step in and support Tuwo Primary School. Whether it’s through construction support, donations, or even by spreading awareness, every action counts.

Let us come together and give these young learners the safe and dignified learning environment they deserve. Because education is not a privilege it is a right.

The tragic death of Joseph Lotuwon Lotuk, a Form Four student at Tiaty High School in Tirioko, has once again exposed the deep cracks in our county's healthcare system. Joseph died on Wednesday, 2nd July 2025, at Baringo County Referral Hospital in Kabarnet a place that, sadly, many in the Pokot community now associate with fear, pain, and neglect rather than healing.

Today, as Joseph is laid to rest in Meuto Village, Kolowa Ward in Tiaty Constituency, we must confront a harsh truth: Kabarnet Referral Hospital has become a silent death trap for patients from Pokot. Time and again, cases have been reported of Pokot men, women, and children being handled with negligence delayed attention, slow emergency response, and casual treatment even in life-threatening situations. This treatment suggests a dangerous underlying issue that perhaps the hospital staff and management view Pokot patients through a lens of tribal profiling, often associating the entire community with banditry.

This kind of thinking is not only unfair but deadly. And it has no place in a public institution funded by taxpayers. Let the hospital management be reminded that Tiaty residents also contribute taxes to Baringo County. The facilities at Kabarnet exist because all residents, including those from Tiaty, fund them. Every patient, regardless of where they come from, deserves equal and dignified treatment.

Let it be known: we are not enemies. We are fellow citizens. Our people go to Kabarnet hospital because they believe in the promise of county services. We trust that in times of emergency, we will be treated with urgency, care, and professionalism. What we receive instead is silence, cold stares, and preventable deaths.

The death of Joseph Lotuwon Lotuk is not just a family tragedy it is a community wound. One that will not heal until justice, equality, and respect are restored in our health systems. We call on the Baringo County Government and all relevant health authorities to investigate this growing trend of medical neglect towards Pokot patients at Kabarnet Referral Hospital.

Joseph deserved better. The people of Tiaty deserve better. Healthcare is a right, not a privilege based on tribe. Let this not happen again.
