𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨-𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐉𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐄𝐀𝐂-𝐒𝐀𝐃𝐂 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐑𝐂 𝐏𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬

The meeting adopted the following Resolutions;

1. Immediate merger of the EAC-SADC and AU structures to comprise of the AU Mediator, EAC-SADC Panel of Facilitators, to report to the Joint EAC-SADC Summit and the African Union.
2. Immediate merger of the technical secretariats of the AUC, EAC and SADC into a Joint Secretariat, led by the AUC in Addis Ababa, to operationalize the joint structure.
3. Consolidate the Terms of Reference (ToRs) and related documents for the AU Mediator and EAC-SADC Panel of facilitators to be endorsed by the Joint EAC-SADC Summit.

China is nearly done building a 664km water supply tunnel to one of its provinces called Yunnan. The project, termed Central Yunnan Water Diversion Project commenced in 2017, with a planned construction time of 8 years. The project would improve water availability for 11 million people in Yunnan Province. Upon completion, it will include the world's longest water tunnel and the largest underground pump room in the world.

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi proposed the formation of a collective security forum to tackle challenges facing the member states, at the collective meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) held in China. SCO is a defence, political and economic organization founded in 1996 by China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan in order to encourage regional cooperation, build mutual trust and disarm the border regions among Member States, under the name Shanghai Five. The organization later expanded with Iran, Pakistan and India joining as permanent members.

South Sudan Celebrates it's 14th Independence Day today 9th July. Since achieving its independence from British and Egyptian rule in 1956, Sudan experienced a series of civil wars between North and South. The 2005 signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) officially ended the North-South conflict and set the date for a referendum on South Sudan’s self-determination in January 2011. Voters overwhelmingly chose independence and the Republic of South Sudan declared independence on July 9, 2011, with Salva Kir Mayardit being sworn in as the first President.
