A People-Centered Day in Lokichar Ward

Today, I had the privilege of attending several functions across my constituency, engaging with our people and sharing in their moments of faith, reflection, growth and celebration.

I began the day by attending the PAG Lokichar Women Conference 2026, a powerful gathering that brought together women in fellowship, prayer and encouragement.

I later joined the Lochermoit Professionals meeting, where we deliberated on the importance of respecting our homes and appreciating the families and communities that have shaped and supported us. I also shared with fellow professionals the importance of education. I spoke from personal experience because I am a testimony of what education can do. School has played a great role in shaping the person I am today, and I believe every child deserves the opportunity to access quality education and build a better future.

Later in the evening, I joined the residents of Napusmoru for the wedding celebration of Mr. Philip Lorot Itaaba at Nakippi Village, Lomunyekipurat Village Unit, Lochwaa Location, Lokichar Ward.

It was a day of connecting with our people, listening, learning and celebrating together.

People-centered leadership means being present with the people—in their prayers, their aspirations, their challenges and their celebrations.

Together, we continue to build a stronger and more united community. 🙏🏾🤝

Prayer and Leadership

Today, I attended the PAG Lokichar Women Conference alongside my counterparts, Hon. Dr. John Ariko, who is aspiring for the Governor’s seat; Hon. Senator Ekusi Lore, who is aspiring for the Senate; and Hon. Jackson Losinyen, who is aspiring for MCA, Lokichar Ward.

We came together in humility and faith to seek God’s guidance and present our aspirations and the grievances of our people before Him. We believe that all leadership comes from God, and it is through His wisdom, grace, and will that leaders are chosen.

We remain committed to serving our people with humility, unity, and dedication. May God guide our steps, grant us wisdom, and bless the people of Turkana.

Our aspirations are in God’s hands. 🙏🏽

Mourning the Loss of Our Young Son

Today, I joined the residents of Kimabur Village in Lokichar Ward as we mourned the heartbreaking loss of a young and promising son, Jeremiah Within Kotol, who tragically lost his life in a motorbike accident.

Jeremiah was a young, vibrant and brilliant person with a future ahead of him. Losing such a promising life at such a tender age is deeply painful, and words can hardly express the sorrow felt by his family, friends and the entire community.

Kimabur, take heart. Ng’ichwae at large, take heart. May God grant the family strength, comfort and courage during this difficult time.

May the soul of our son, Jeremiah Within Kotol, rest in eternal peace. 🕊️

Hon. Derick Epae’s Community Engagement

Today, I attended the burial ceremony of the late Paulina Ekai at Kapese in Lokichar Ward, standing with the family and community during this difficult time.

Later in the day, I attended the grand house opening ceremony of Mary Asafar at Kalemng’orok in Katilu Ward, joining family, friends, and the community in celebrating this important milestone.

A day of standing with our people in both moments of sorrow and moments of joy.

Today, I joined MP John Ariko Namoit in engaging pastoral families in Lomunyenkirion, Logum and Lokwar/Nakuse. I listened to their concerns, especially the effects of drought and insecurity.

We also distributed food to affected families and called for a focused, intelligence-led approach to tackling banditry while ensuring our people feel safe and supported.
