In a historic turn, the people of Tonj East County have voluntarily surrendered over 4,000 illegal fi****ms, signaling a strong push for peace and security in Warrap State.
The weapons were handed to local chiefs, then passed to the South Sudanese army, following a state of emergency declared by President Salva Kiir. The initiative—supported by community leaders and citizens alike—is now spreading to other counties in Warrap.
Commissioner Mangor Dhuol called it a clear sign that “our people are ready for peace.”
