A man accused of participating in a violent robbery involving nearly one million shillings and unlawful possession of police-issued gear as be charged before Milimani Law Courts.
Ezekiel Muyia Mutuku, also known as Macho, was arrested on July 2, 2025.He was presented before Milimani Law after prosecution pressed a charge of robbery with violence against him. He's been slapped with two serious charges—robbery with violence and possession of public stores, both under the Penal Code.
According to the charge sheet, the suspect is alleged to have taken part in a daring armed robbery on June 2, 2025, along First Parklands Avenue in Nairobi's Westlands area. Prosecutors claim that Mutuku, acting jointly with others not before court, robbed Patel Kashyakumar Khanthibhai of KSh 999,000 while armed with a firearm and used actual violence during the act.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has sanctioned prosecution for this primary count, which is classified under Section 296(2) of the Penal Code—a capital offence that carries the death penalty upon conviction.
In a related charge, Mutuku is also accused of being found in possession of stolen or unlawfully obtained police items. The second count alleges that on July 2, 2025, in Eldoret’s Ronald Ngara Street, he was found with a National Police Service cap badge and cap cover, items believed to be public stores. This contravenes Section 324 of the Penal Code.
The matter is being handled by DCI officers from Parklands, and the prosecution has lined up key witnesses, including bank staff and telecommunications liaison officers.Mutuku is expected to appear before Chief Magistrate Ekhubi for ruling his bail application with the week.
