**MAN CHARGED WITH VIOLENT ROBBERY IN MARSABIT**

A 31-year-old man has been arraigned before a Marsabit court over a violent robbery incident that occurred in Marsabit Central.

The suspect, identified as Feisal Gollo, is accused of robbing Abdi Nuno of a mobile phone valued at KSh 24,339, a charger, and KSh 1,500 in cash during the incident on the night of May 23, 2026, in the Mountain area of Marsabit County.

Appearing before Marsabit Resident Magistrate Edward Oboge, Gollo denied the charge.

The court is awaiting a probation report before ruling on his application for bond. The case will be mentioned on June 16, 2026.

A security operation in Loiyangalani has led to the recovery of 251 sheep and goats that had been stolen during a suspected bandit raid.

The livestock was traced to the Lokilipi and Sarima areas, where armed suspects engaged security officers in a brief exchange of gunfire before escaping and leaving the animals behind.

Police have secured the recovered livestock and are working to identify the owners before handing them over. The operation forms part of intensified efforts to tackle livestock theft and improve security in the region.

DUGSI & MADRASA
President William Ruto has directed the Ministry of Education to begin consultations aimed at formally integrating Dugsi and Madrasa programmes into Kenya’s education system. Speaking during the 63rd Madaraka Day celebrations in Wajir on Monday, the President said many children in Northern Kenya and other marginalized regions remain outside the formal education system because alternative learning pathways have not been adequately recognized within the country's education framework.

Ruto instructed the Cabinet Secretary for Education to engage all relevant stakeholders and take the necessary measures under the Basic Education Act to develop a framework for recognizing and integrating the programmes. He said the move will ensure every child, regardless of background or circumstance, has a recognized pathway to learning, skills and opportunities, adding that every child deserves access to education and that it is the government's responsibility to open that door.
