MWANGAZA Versus The Four, Who will win 'the Ground?'

"Tupatane Ground" This was a dare by Kawira Mwangaza to four Meru leaders; Governor Mutuma, Mithika Linturi, Kathuri Murungi and Peter Gatirau Munya who she has christened as competitors in the much-awaited Meru Gubernatorial duel, 2027.

Kawira believes she the 'queen of the ground'-the groundmaster! That she has mastered the art of appealing to the common man, the hoi polloi. That ground will always tilt in her favour!

Governor Mutuma is serving his first year as Governor. Hopeful that by 2027 he will have built enough grassroot network to propel him to the coveted seat of the 5th Governor of Meru.

Mithika Linturi on the other hand is known for his firebrand style of politics. He hopes to galvanize his grassroot support through the WANTAM Movement which has gained footing in Meru.

Kathuri Murungi is upbeat that the ground will not betray him. That He is 'Kamashinani' and knows his ways to the ground.

Peter Gatirau Munya is hoping for a major comeback. He is pitching his track record while revamping PNU. He believes Meru is in a mess and is the only man with the solution to the crisis!

The question that begs is: Who will win the ground?

Further to our earlier report on Meru's agricultural prowess (https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1ZLstaZNHU/), it is now official that Meru is the leading milk producer in the country!

According to the National Agriculture Production Report 2025, Meru produced 479 million litres of milk in 2024 surpassing Uasin Gishu and Kiambu with 462m and 368 million respectively.

MWANGAZA to her former Deputy: 'Sitanyamaza maovu yakitawala'

Kawira Mwangaza says she intends to be the face of oversight in Meru and that she will put the Mutuma-led administration on toes moving foward.

While unveiling her plans for 2026 yesterday, the UMP Party leader castigated Governor Mutuma's administration saying it is riddled with graft and lack of tangible development.

"Since I left office, nothing has been going on in Meru. My projects are still visible on the ground. All we have is money being siphoned by a few cartels" Mwangaza said.

The former Governor has promised the incumbent and his former Deputy Governor Mutuma M'Ethingia a gruelling political battle in 2026 where she has hinted in marshalling her troops to oversight county projects while raising alarm on red flags in the county government.

MWANGAZA to Kathuri: 'Jaribu Governor 2027 nikuonyeshe'

UMP Party Leader Kawira Mwangaza has dared Meru Senator Kathuri Murungi to vie for Meru Governor seat in 2027.

Mwangaza who yesterday declared her intention to make a comeback as Meru Governor in 2027 said Kathuri Murungi's 2027 Governor bid is dead on arrival.

"If Kathuri dares vie for Meru Governor, I will not even be on the ballot because he is not worth my challenge. I will give it to Murega Baichu instead" Mwangaza said.

The two leaders no longer see eye to eye after the former Governor persistently accused Kathuri of engineering her impeachment and working towards her downfall.

Although Kathuri has not made his 2027 Governor bid public yet, political pundits have argued he is likely to join the race to unseat Mutuma M'ethingia in the coming days.
