The government is selling Kenyans a lie wrapped in election-season sugarcoating.

It is now claiming it is “introducing an amendment” to exempt 1.5 million workers earning KSh 30,000 and below from PAYE. This sounds generous—until you check the law. Kenyans earning below KSh 24,000 were already PAYE-exempt under existing tax bands and personal relief. There is nothing new here.

No breakthrough. No reform. Just recycled policy being rebranded as generosity.
What the government is actually doing is shifting the exemption ceiling slightly upward and marketing it as a historic tax relief.

That is not tax justice; it is political theatre. The majority of low-income earners were never paying PAYE in the first place, and those slightly above the threshold are getting marginal relief that does not match the crushing cost of living, inflation, fuel taxes, housing levy deductions, and expanded consumption taxes.

🐟 THE COIN IN THE FISH’S MOUTH
(Matthew 17:24–27)

When the collectors of the temple tax approached Peter, they asked a simple question:
👉 “Does your Teacher pay the temple tax?”
Peter quickly answered, “Yes.”
But the real lesson was about to unfold—not just about taxes, but about trust, provision, and divine wisdom.

✨ A Conversation with Deeper Meaning

When Peter entered the house, Jesus spoke first. He asked:
“From whom do the kings of the earth collect duty and taxes—from their own children or from others?”
Peter replied, “From others.”
Jesus then said something profound:
🟡 “Then the children are exempt.”

Jesus, the Son of God, was not obligated to pay a tax meant for the upkeep of His Father’s house. Yet He chose humility over rights, peace over protest, and love over conflict.

🐠 An Unexpected Miracle
Instead of asking for money, Jesus gave Peter an unusual instruction:
👉 “Go to the lake and throw out your line. Take the first fish you catch; open its mouth and you will find a four-drachma coin. Take it and give it to them for My tax and yours.”

No fundraising.
No borrowing.
No debate.

💥 God provided exactly what was needed—at the exact moment—through the most unexpected means.

📌 Powerful Lessons for Us Today
🔹 God owns everything – even the fish in the sea carry out His will.
🔹 Provision follows obedience – Peter had to go and cast the line before the miracle appeared.
🔹 God’s supply is precise – not lacking, not excessive—just right.
🔹 Humility honors God – Jesus chose not to offend, even when He had every right.
🔹 Expect the unexpected – God’s ways are higher, wiser, and often surprising.

🙏 Life Application
When bills come, needs rise, and resources seem scarce, remember this story.

The answer may not be in your pocket yet—but God already knows where it is.

That coin in the fish’s mouth reminds us:
🕊️ God is never late, never short, and never out of options.

✨ Trust Him. Obey Him.

This embrace between Ida Odinga and Edwin Sifuna was not just ceremonial warmth, it was political symbolism served raw, unfiltered and unadulterated . It came at the birthday remembrance of the late Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga in Karen at a time when ODM is choking on internal skirmishes, power tantrums and cosmetic bravado from leaders drunk on proximity to power.

In a season of chaos, this hug was pepper, salt, and fire proof that sometimes the most lethal political statements are made without saying a word.

As 2027 looms, this image cuts deep. It draws a line between legacy and opportunism, between builders and renters of political capital. No microphones. No chest-thumping. Just a silent rebuke to the noise merchants tearing at the party’s soul.

The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has put up for sale about 281 tonnes of old and unserviceable coins, inviting eligible metal smelting and coin-minting firms to buy and melt currency withdrawn from circulation after wear and damage, as part of a disposal process that will clear more than 281,000 kilogrammes of coins held in its Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu vaults ahead of minting new ones.

CBK says the winning bidder will be required to transport and smelt the entire consignment under strict supervision by the regulator, with bids closing on January 22, 2026, even as the bank presses on with plans to mint new coins despite declining use of lower denominations amid inflation and the steady shift toward digital payments.

Museveni's Mpigi Rally Sparks 20-Hour Traffic Jam on Kampala-Masaka Highway.

A massive gridlock hit the Kampala-Masaka highway after Museveni's December 29 rally in Mpigi, where security closed road sections as holiday returnees from western Uganda endured delays, stretching into Tuesday morning.

Opposition figures like Bobi Wine and Joel Ssenyonyi condemned the stopover for endangering lives and highlighting poor infrastructure, while police blamed festive congestion and rain, urging diversions like the Nakiwogo ferry.

Even retired police officer Asan Kasingye's bus took 13 hours to escape, fueling debate over campaign priorities on this key route ahead of 2026 elections.

Marafa Depression—also known as Hell’s Kitchen, Kenya—is one of the most unique natural attractions in the country. Located in Kilifi County, about 30 km from Malindi, it is a dramatic sandstone canyon famous for its striking colors and shapes.

🌄 What is Marafa Depression?

Marafa Depression is a naturally carved sandstone gorge formed through millions of years of erosion by wind, rain, and floods. This created:

Steep cliffs

Sharp ridges

Deep gorges

Pillar-like rock formations

The walls of the canyon glow in red, orange, white, pink, and yellow—especially at sunset.

🏜️ Local Legend

Local Giriama people tell a story that the canyon started as a punishment from God.
Legend says there was a rich family who lived in a house made of milk. They wasted milk by bathing in it, so God split the ground open and swallowed their home—creating the Marafa Depression.

🌅 Why it's called Hell’s Kitchen

The canyon gets extremely hot during the day, with temperatures rising inside the gorge because of the narrow passages and reflective stone surfaces.
Sunset is the most visited time because the cliffs appear to “glow like fire.”

🌍 Activities at Marafa Depression

Visitors can:

Walk/Hike through the canyon

View the colorful cliffs

Enjoy sunset viewpoints
