As a young professional, I am deeply committed to working towards a better future by upholding professionalism in everything I do. I believe that professionalism is not just a work ethic but a lifestyle, it shapes how I interact with colleagues, clients, and even how I carry myself personally. I understand that my conduct outside of work reflects back on the businesses and organizations I represen

t. For this reason, I strive to maintain integrity, respect, and responsibility at all times, knowing that small actions today can build strong foundations for tomorrow. In every opportunity I get, I aim to represent myself and my affiliations with honor and excellence. I am mindful that professionalism extends beyond formal settings and is visible in how I communicate, how I solve problems, and how I treat people. By carrying these values daily, I am building a reputation of trustworthiness and commitment, qualities that I believe are essential for anyone who aspires to make a real difference in their career and community.

The BRICS alliance (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) is shifting global economic dynamics. With their recent expansion plans and a push for alternatives to the US dollar, BRICS is creating a new playing field. For African economies, this shift could mean more trade partnerships, better financing options, and reduced dependency on Western institutions.

However, the opportunity comes with responsibility. African nations must invest in infrastructure, governance, and strategic industries to truly benefit from the new alliances. Our continent must be proactive, not reactive—ready to sit at the global table not as dependents, but as equal economic players.

Time management isn’t just about scheduling—it’s a mark of respect. Showing up late, missing deadlines, or postponing commitments speaks louder than words. It shows a lack of respect for others and for yourself. In any professional setting, punctuality and preparedness set you apart as dependable and mature.

Professionals who value time often find themselves trusted with more responsibility. Why? Because they’ve proven they can handle it. Whether you're starting out or leading a team, how you manage time reveals your inner discipline. Respect time, and time will reward you.

Youth is a season of discovery, energy, and potential. But without discipline and self-awareness, it can also become a season of mistakes that cost a lifetime. Many young people destroy their futures by making impulsive decisions—driven by peer pressure, unchecked emotions, or the urge to fit in. As a young person, remember that your choices today are building the bridge you’ll walk on tomorrow.

You were born with purpose. Don’t lose it chasing temporary pleasures or shallow validation. Learn to say no to distractions and yes to growth. Surround yourself with mentors, read widely, and reflect deeply. Your dream deserves your discipline—don’t kill it with carelessness.

In a world that celebrates quick wins and shortcuts, integrity is a rare yet priceless virtue. It's the ability to stand by what is right, even when no one is watching. Integrity builds trust, and trust is the foundation of every lasting relationship, be it in personal life, career, or business. People may forget your words, but they will never forget how you made them feel, especially when you stood for the truth.

Compromising integrity for temporary gain may offer momentary satisfaction, but it often comes at the cost of long-term respect and inner peace. Choose to do what’s right, even when it’s hard. Let your name be associated with honesty, reliability, and strong moral principles, these are the seeds that yield true success.

Financial discipline is the ability to make intentional decisions about your money, decisions that are guided by long-term goals, not momentary pleasures. In a world where consumerism is glamorized and social media constantly tempts us to “keep up with the trend,” it's easy to fall into the habit of reckless spending. However, young people must realize that financial freedom does not begin with earning more, but with mastering what they already have. Discipline is not a restriction, it is a form of empowerment that ensures your money works for you, not against you.

Many youth are unknowingly sabotaging their financial futures by prioritizing instant gratification. Whether it's buying expensive gadgets on credit, spending carelessly on night outs, or always seeking the next "feel good" purchase, these actions accumulate into financial strain. Without budgeting, tracking expenses, or saving, one can easily lose control of their finances and find themselves trapped in debt. Cultivating financial discipline requires deliberate choices: planning your spending, setting monthly budgets, avoiding unnecessary debt, and saving before spending.

One of the core principles of financial discipline is delayed gratification. This means resisting the urge to satisfy temporary wants so you can achieve something bigger and more meaningful later. When you save and invest early, you build a financial cushion that not only brings peace of mind but also creates opportunities—whether it's starting a business, pursuing education, or supporting a family. Discipline today ensures dignity tomorrow. A financially disciplined youth will be positioned to take advantage of life’s opportunities instead of being held hostage by financial emergencies.

Let me tell you Maina, financial discipline is not about denying yourself enjoyment, it is about making wise decisions that protect your future. Young people must develop a mindset that values purpose over impulse. Every shilling, dollar, or coin is a seed. The question is, will you plant it or waste it? Start now. Budget. Save. Invest. Learn. Your future depends on what you do with your money today. Build a life you don’t need to escape from by choosing discipline now.

On Sunday during our leadership class, we delved into a deeply reflective topic, DREAM SU***DE. When it is Leadership class time, I am always very attentive and I found myself fully engaged. Dr. David, with his calm yet sharp delivery, unpacked the tragic story of Samson from the Book of Judges. Though Samson was born a chosen child, set apart as a Nazarite to fulfill a divine mission, his life spiraled due to carelessness, selfish choices, and a failure to honor his calling. It was sobering to realize that even though he was blessed with immense strength and purpose, he allowed his personal desires and indulgences to override wisdom and discipline.

Dr. Kabera explained that Samson’s downfall was not a single event, but a pattern. It started by ignoring boundaries, prioritizing pleasure, and being ruled by emotions. He broke his vows, sought gratification in wrong places, and eventually trusted the wrong person (Delilah) who directly contributed to his defeat. Even in his final moments, Samson asked for strength not to fulfill purpose, but to avenge himself and die with his enemies. As Dr. Kabera humorously but truthfully pointed out, HIS LEGACY WAS THAT HE KILLED MORE PEOPLE IN DEATH THAN WHEN HE WAS ALIVE😆. What a weak and avoidable end for someone born with greatness in his veins?

Young people today are facing the same tragic cycle. Let me tell you Maina, they are killing their own dreams through arrogant decisions, ignoring wise counsel, and forgetting their true identity. Many are gifted, talented, and full of potential, but because they want quick satisfaction, validation, or revenge, they end up sabotaging their future. Whether it's substance abuse, laziness, toxic relationships, or disobedience, the cost of these choices can be irreversible. Just like Samson, they were born for greatness but are drifting toward irrelevance, not because they lack ability, but because they lack self-control. I know that that topic did not end there, I know Daktari had more for us, only that time did not allow.

I cannot conclude without talking to the young people. My message to every one of you is this: DON’T KILL YOUR DREAM. Guard it, nurture it, and live with purpose. Know who you are, and don’t trade your destiny for temporary pleasure. Listen to mentors, obey God’s guidance, and stay grounded in your values. You were not born to die with your enemies or fade away without impact. You were born to build, lead, and leave a lasting legacy of purpose. Protect your dream at all costs.

In a world that increasingly glorifies rebellion and independence at all costs, obedience is often misunderstood. But obedience isn’t weakness—it is wisdom. It means listening to guidance, respecting authority, and staying aligned with values and principles that lead to stability, growth, and long-term success. For us young people, choosing to be obedient is not about blind submission but about learning discipline and earning trust.

Obedience opens doors. It places you in positions of mentorship, growth, and leadership. Employers trust those who follow through. Leaders rise from the ranks of those who first learned to follow. Whether it's respecting your parents, teachers, supervisors, or God's Word—obedience trains your character, builds resilience, and positions you for promotion. Many miss out on opportunities not because they lack talent, but because they refuse to listen.

So to every young person reading this: Choose obedience. Choose the path of discipline, humility, and respect. It will take you further than mere ambition ever could. Your future is built on the small decisions of today, decisions like obeying the voice of reason and the wisdom of those who’ve walked before you.

Self confidence is very important

I have just received a call from one of my closest friends. He was reminding me that Saturdays are always for the boys. After few minutes of communication, I have told him I will be there in a few. Weekends are not just a time to rest, they are also a valuable opportunity for young men to build meaningful relationships, exchange ideas, and sharpen their vision. As boys, it is important that we embrace the culture of intentional socialization. Take time to meet with friends and peers, not just for leisure, but for growth-oriented discussions. These moments of interaction can spark ideas, ignite passions, and inspire plans that could shape your future.

Use weekends to network, brainstorm, and share experiences around business, career, and professional development. Whether it's over a cup of tea or during a casual hangout, talk about your goals, lessons learned, and upcoming opportunities. These conversations are the foundation of strong support systems and can lead to collaborations, mentorships, and vital career insights. Stay curious, and stay hungry for knowledge.

Remember, growth does not happen in isolation. The world is moving fast, and staying informed on emerging trends, market changes, and professional expectations gives you a strategic advantage. Boys, don’t waste your weekends, invest them. Make every moment count by aligning your time with activities that enhance your journey toward success.

Self-confidence is one of the most powerful tools a young person can possess in today’s competitive and ever-evolving world. It is the foundation upon which success is built, whether in academics, career, or personal development. When you believe in your capabilities, you naturally unlock your potential and attract opportunities. Confidence enables you to speak up, take initiative, and face challenges without fear of failure. It is not about being perfect; it is about trusting that you can learn, improve, and eventually succeed through persistence.

In the professional world, confidence is often the difference between being noticed or overlooked. As a young professional, walking into a room with self-assurance, presenting your ideas clearly, and handling feedback with grace shows maturity and readiness. Employers and clients alike gravitate toward individuals who demonstrate belief in their skills and remain composed under pressure. However, self-confidence must be rooted in preparation, knowing your craft, researching your field, and constantly sharpening your skills. This combination of confidence and competence positions you for growth and leadership.

As a young person, remember that confidence begins from within. Know your values, embrace your uniqueness, and don't compare your journey with others. Surround yourself with mentors and people who uplift you, and don't let temporary setbacks shake your belief. Keep affirming yourself and working toward your goals with discipline and focus. Confidence is not arrogance, I see it as a quiet inner strength that says, “I can.” Let it guide your actions, and you will not only transform your life but also inspire others around you.
