Empowering Likoni’s Youth: Nurturing Talent and Building Futures
Likoni’s young generation is filled with immense potential beyond the well-known football talent in the region. According to Salim Nyembwe, the Office Manager to Likoni MP Hon. Mishi Mboko, local youth also excel in music, cooking, and digital content creation. However, a lack of structured platforms to support and nurture these talents often limits their opportunities for growth and success.
Speaking on the issue, Tavikala emphasized the need to establish talent development platforms such as music competitions to give young creatives the space to hone their skills. He also highlighted the crucial role of social media in modern career development, stating, “Social media has become a powerful tool for many young people, and we must empower them with the resources to turn their passions into careers.”
Beyond talent development, Tavikala proposed the creation of mentorship programs aimed at guiding the youth toward financial independence. He stressed that many young people in Likoni remain unaware of the vast opportunities available to them, leaving them vulnerable to negative influences such as criminal gangs that promise quick but illegal solutions.
By investing in structured programs and initiatives, the community can provide its youth with alternative, constructive paths to success. The call is clear—Likoni’s young generation needs empowerment, mentorship, and sustainable opportunities to thrive in today’s competitive world.
