Yusuf Wambugu, Veteran Muslim Preacher and Comparative Religion Debater
The Muslim community in Kenya is mourning the death of Yusuf Wambugu, a respected veteran preacher and Islamic debater, who passed away on June 22, 2025, at Mathari Hospital in Nyeri after a short illness. He will be laid to rest today at the Nyeri Muslim Cemetery, in accordance with Islamic rites.
Yusuf Wambugu was widely known for his dedication to comparative religion, frequently engaging in public debates with Christian pastors on matters of theology and scripture. His street preaching drew crowds in Nairobi and across Kenya, where he was celebrated for his articulate defense of Islam and calm, reasoned approach.
He extended his message online through his YouTube channel, “Yusuf Dawa’ah Kenya,” where he taught Islamic principles and hosted interfaith dialogues. His content attracted a wide following, especially among young Muslims seeking clarity, confidence, and conviction in their faith.
Yusuf’s mission was rooted in the Qur’anic call to convey the message of Islam with wisdom and good counsel. His fearless yet respectful approach made him a standout figure in Kenya’s religious discourse and an inspiration to many.
He leaves behind a legacy of knowledge, boldness in Da’wah, and unwavering commitment to Islamic outreach.
