Today, we officially launched the Media & Communication Awards 2026 – Coast Edition, marking the beginning of a new platform dedicated to recognizing excellence in journalism, media and strategic communication.
An initiative of Mombasa Press Club in partnership with Gilitics media, the Awards seek to celebrate individuals (Journalists and Digital content creators)and institutions whose work informs the public, shapes opinion, builds trust and drives positive change across our communities.
The breakfast launch brought together leaders from government, media, corporate organizations, development partners and the communications profession to unveil the vision behind the Awards and officially open the call for nominations.
We are deeply grateful to:
• His Excellency the Governor of Mombasa County Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir for gracing the occasion and reaffirming the importance of a free, professional and responsible media.

This was not an awards ceremony. It was the official beginning of a journey.
From today, nominations are officially open. We invite journalists, media houses, communication professionals, public relations practitioners, photographers, videographers, digital content creators, corporate organizations, government institutions and agencies to submit entries across the various award categories.
The journey now begins.
