Malcolm X is quoted to have once said, "If you want to hide something from a black person, put it in a book."
The right context of that statement was that, slave masters would hide small valuable things, inclusive of money inside books because they knew that since the black slaves were uneducated and largely illiterate, NONE WOULD THINK OF OPENING A COVER OF A BOOK! That's how the saying came into being!
Now, many blacks have read quite some books. But very few ever read anything BEYOND COURSE BOOKS. And by course books I mean, rarely will you find anyone reading a book which THEY HAVE BOUGHT and ARE NOT BEING EXAMINED ON AFTER READING IT!
My rule for MENTAL/ INTELLECTUAL GROWTH has been, "FOR EVERY MEAL YOU TAKE FOR THE BELLY, TAKE TWO FOR THE MIND."
Hear me, irrespective of your profession, YOU WILL NEVER GROW BEYOND WHAT YOU FEED ON. That speaks for your body, as well as for your intellect.
