Rigathi Gachagua has revealed shocking details about what transpired after the Gen Z protests.
The former Dp said that following the demonstrations, President Ruto dissolved the Cabinet and appeared uncertain about his next steps, even considering bringing Raila Odinga on board.
According to Gachagua, they allowed the President to proceed without much resistance. However, when the first batch of Cabinet appointments was made, none of the positions he had negotiated for from his region were allocated. When he questioned Ruto, he was told to wait.
Later, as the President prepared to announce the final list, he called both Gachagua and Musalia Mudavadi to flank him during the live briefing. “He was in a hurry, saying, ‘Let’s go,’” Gachagua recalled.
“I asked him, ‘What do you mean, let’s go? How do we flank you to announce names we do not know?’ He insisted, but I refused. I told him I cannot flank him to announce names I’m seeing for the first time, together with the press.”
He added that Ruto became visibly angry and stormed back to his office. “As for Musalia, my God he was shaking like a leaf, saying, ‘How can we challenge the President? How?’” Gachagua continued. “I told him, ‘Musalia, my friend, your name could even be missing from that list. The only person who is safe here is me, because I’m elected.’”👀
