Over time the youth bulge has become a major challenge to the belief in white collar jobs, a couple shilling thousands salary and working under someone being the ultimate goal of success for many young scholars. With the scarcity of jobs especially with global challenges; the idea of success has become only but a dream to millennials.
However, a new awakening in the youth fraternity has seen Entrepreneurship become a solution.
This is an innovative way of business advancement in our modern society where local solutions are needed.
Entrepreneurs look out at their surroundings in search ideas to help make their neighborhoods a better place. In Kenya one major society is stepping up giving their "hood" a special feel; one that would change the generation for a desirable community. The East Side, formally known as Eastlands, famous for dense population, slums and ghetto community characterized by social evils; such as daylight robbery, pickpocketing by idle youths, drug and substance abuse to early parenthood from unplanned pregnancies.
However a new wave of change has brought with it an intriguing platform dubbed The Alpreneurs - as a Slumcode Group program where young people are positioned for self development and empowerment. A summit recently took place at Nairobi Christian Church - Umoja, where, a number of youth initiated companies collaborated to gather upcoming entrepreneurs from the East Side to a whole new touch and feel to stir up the youth to take initiative and be productive based on and by identifying their purpose via mentorship.
This was a wholesome event with successful key note speakers, who are recognized in their industries. The thematic relevance, ensured that talent and ideas don't go to waste, but they perfect the skill by receiving advice from the gurus. This Summit - a follow up to a similar one held at the same place in 2014, brought to attention the desire for business to be built on passion for community productivity.
Thought provoking conversations and superb performances artists like Prince Krew Empire and, Poeta Dennis showed how amazing the youth can spearhead own ideas and create a community of peace and economic relevance and make our youth voice to be heard. The Alpreneurs summit, provided an avenue for us all to do collaborate and March to greatness as we build long term partnerships.
