Claims from Hashem Al-Ghaili
Slain UnitedHealthcare CEO had deployed AI that automatically denied claims from sick people:

UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was murdered this week in Midtown Manhattan, just as outrage over the insurance industry reached new heights.

Last year, a lawsuit alleged that UnitedHealthcare deployed an AI system, nH Predict, to override doctors' approvals and deny benefits to sick and elderly patients.

The lawsuit, filed by the families of two deceased UHC customers, claimed the algorithm had a staggering 90% error rate and accused the company of being fully aware of its failings.

The use of AI in this case highlights the dangers of deploying artificial intelligence without proper oversight or ethical safeguards.

While AI holds immense potential to improve efficiency and decision-making, its misuse in sensitive industries like healthcare can lead to disastrous outcomes — denied treatment, suffering, and loss of life.

As companies rush to adopt AI-driven processes to cut costs, the consequences for human lives cannot be ignored. This tragedy serves as a stark reminder that AI must be implemented with transparency, rigorous oversight, and a moral imperative to prioritize people over profits.

Without careful deployment, the very tools meant to improve systems risk amplifying injustices and sparking unprecedented societal backlash.Follow, like and share our page: @ Mamboleo News

Plastic-eating insects have been discovered in Kenya.

In the ongoing fight against plastic pollution, scientists have discovered a surprising ally: the larvae of the Kenyan lesser mealworm, a native African insect with an appetite for polystyrene.

These tiny creatures can not only consume this pervasive plastic, commonly known as Styrofoam, but also break it down with the help of unique bacteria residing in their gut.

This discovery holds immense promise, particularly for Africa, a continent grappling with alarming levels of plastic waste despite contributing minimally to its global production. The researchers observed that the mealworms thrived on a mixed diet of polystyrene and bran, consuming and degrading the plastic more efficiently than those fed solely on polystyrene. This shows the importance of a balanced diet for these larvae to effectively tackle plastic waste.

Analysis of their gut revealed a diverse community of bacteria, including Proteobacteria and Firmicutes, known for their ability to adapt to various environments and break down complex substances. Specific bacteria like Kluyvera, Lactococcus, Citrobacter, and Klebsiella, known to produce plastic-digesting enzymes, were also abundant. This suggests that the mealworms' gut microbiome plays a crucial role in the plastic degradation process, possibly adapting to the unusual diet by fostering bacteria capable of breaking down polystyrene polymers. Scientists aim to isolate the specific bacteria and enzymes responsible for plastic degradation and harness their power in controlled environments like factories and recycling plants.

Breaking News: Tensions Rise Between Ruto and Gachagua Over Allegations of Deception⁉️

In a fiery address at ACK St. Patrick's Church in Kayole, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua didn't hold back as he called out certain leaders within the Kenya Kwanza coalition for misleading the public. Gachagua stressed the need for transparency, accusing some officials of being "economical with the truth" for far too long.

DP Gachagua urged his fellow leaders to truly listen to the people they serve, highlighting that effective leadership is about understanding and aligning with the aspirations of citizens. "Good leadership is listening to the people," he emphasized, noting that the public's frustration is palpable and deserves attention.

The Deputy President also pointed out that his commitment to honesty has made him a target within the administration. "I always tell the truth, and people have a problem with me," he stated, reflecting on the broader issue of deception in government.

DP Gachagua vowed to continue his truth-telling mission, asserting that he has built a strong bond with the Kenyan people. He observed that Kenyans are now more discerning and less likely to be swayed by falsehoods. "Kenyans have advanced, and they are very intelligent, so the time of cheating Kenyans is over," he declared, reinforcing his dedication to honest governance.

The father of the Apalachee High School shooting suspect has been arrested

The father of the Apalachee High School shooting suspect has been arrested in connection with the shooting that left four dead, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Colin Gray, 54, was charged with, four counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second-degree murder and eight counts of a child, the GBI said Thursday. From left: Richard Aspinwall, Cristina Irimie, Mason Schermerhorn, and Christian Angulo, all killed in the shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, on Wednesday.

"They made the difference": 2 math teachers are among the victims of the high school shooting.

His son, C**t Gray, a 14-year-old student, is accused of killing two students and two teachers with an AR-style rifle during Wednesday's shooting. Seven other people -- six students and a teacher -- were shot and wounded, and two other students suffered other injuries, authorities said. The teenager has been charged with four counts of murder, according to charging documents obtained by Mambole News.

He should have been tried as an adult, the GBI and Barrow County sheriff's office said. The charges against Colin Gray stem from the fact that he "permitted" his son to have a gun, GBI Director Chris Hosey said during a news conference Thursday. Mamboleo News is working to determine if Colin Gray has legal representation. Reached by phone Thursday, the Barrow County Public Defender's Office could not confirm whether he was the representative and had no comment.

Mambole News made several attempts to contact Colin Gray by phone and in person at the family home. Colin Gray told investigators this week that he bought the gun used in the killing as a holiday gift for his son in December 2023, according to two law enforcement sources with direct knowledge of the investigation.

A source told Mambole News that the AR-15-style rifle was bought from a local gun shop as a Christmas present. The timeline given by the teen's father to authorities would put the gun purchase months after authorities first contacted Gray and his family to investigate threats of a school shooting. online.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office in Georgia closed this investigation because information about the threat could not be verified. Wednesday's mass shooting, just weeks into the new school year, is the 45th school shooting since the start of the year and the deadliest school shooting in the United States since the March 2023 massacre in the Covenant School in Nashville, which left six. dead people

At least 12 succumbed after boat ferrying migrants in the English Channel

Almost 70 people were on the ship, according to Boulogne-sur-Mer mayor Frédéric Cuvillier, although it's not an exact figure.
Emergency teams saved 53 and pulled corpses of the dead, the maritime prefecture said, adding that several of those rescued were in critical condition and needed emergency medical attention.

Three helicopters, two fishing boats, and two boats have been deployed in the search and rescue operation.
The incident is the latest of many tragedies on the English Channel, where small-boat crossings of migrants trying to reach Britain have risen greatly in recent years.
This maritime sector is one of the busiest in the world with over 600 merchant ships passing through daily, and the weather conditions are often difficult. Hence, the prefecture described it as a "particularly dangerous sector, even when the sea seems calm".

Most of the migrants on board appeared to be from Eritrea, the Boulogne-sur-Mer prosecutor, Guirec Le Bras said Tuesday. He added that 10 of the 12 who died were women and some were minors.
Le Bras said it appears the boat sank about 5 kilometers (3 miles) off the coast of Cap Gris-Nez, on the northern coast of France...Mamboleo News updates
At a press conference in Boulogne-sur-Mer Tuesday, French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said "less than eight people had a life jacket" on board the boat, as he once more pointed a finger at smugglers for such unsafe conditions.

"Obviously, it is a tragedy. The moment there is a loss of life on our soil, I want to send a thought to the families," said Darmanin. "They were seeking a better world across the sea in Great Britain."

Nearly 30,000 arrived in Britain by making the Channel crossing in a small boat last year, according to Home Office figures, with dinghies and other small vessels being used regularly to transport large groups on the perilous journey in the hope of gaining asylum in the United Kingdom.
Incidents of that kind, many of which have proved deadly, have been a common occurrence over the period. Last August, six people died in capsizing of a boat carrying dozens of migrants.

It has been a political headache for the former Conservative government and still is for the new Labour administration, given that their hardline rhetoric against asylum seekers put targets on their backs from criticisms levied by migrant rights groups...MAMBOLEO NEWS GLOBAL UPDATES

Head of the French mission for Médecins Sans Frontières Xavier Crombé blamed French and British government policies for the latest deaths on Tuesday. "We are appalled and outraged after this new tragedy in the English Channel," Crombé said. "These are not inevitable deaths but the tragic consequence of inhumane and absurd migration policies.
Crombé said, "Current policies put border control above human lives, and journeys are forced to become more precarious and dangerous."

Violence gripped the streets of Israel as the military returned six hostages which it accused Hamas of killing in Gaza. The largest general workers’ union in the country demanded a strike saying that ‘the whole of Israel will come to a standstill’ on Monday.
Benjamin Netanyahu is now under new criticism as opponents say he has been reluctant to work for hostage exchange, and a senior US official who spoke to Mamboleo said the killing of hostages also raises questions about the sincerity of Hamas to a deal.
Of the six people reported killed in Gaza, two—Hersh Goldberg-Polin was an Israeli-American—were to be expected as being released in a future ceasefire deal said US and Israeli information sources.
On the other hand, Palestinians are in a state of humanitarian crisis that is manifested in the Gaza Strip after many attacks by Israelis. A campaign spearheaded by the UN to administer polio vaccines to hundreds of thousands of children there kicked off on Sunday.

RESOLUTION: The Israeli defense minister describes the government's approach to the hostage deal as a moral disgrace.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant criticized the Israeli government for what he said was focusing on the control of a strategic border rather than negotiating to rescue hostages during Sunday’s Cabinet meeting, mamboleo has gathered.
In recent times, Gallant has publicly quarreled with PM Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the conditions for sovereignty over a 14-kilometer (8. 7-mile) territory on the border of Gaza and Egypt known as the Philadelphi corridor, Israeli media said.
“If we are to stick to this approach, I can assure you that we won’t be able to realize the exercise of goals as stipulated,” Gallant advised his colleagues on Sunday. “To take the four of them alive we don’t have time”
According to others, he said, “I was told back in the unit that you do not abandon the wounded in the field, it is unethical. ”
Growing debate: Gallant has realized that he is almost alone in Netanyahu’s Cabinet on the question of a hostage deal. He was the only vote against the insistence on controlling the Philadelphi corridor in exchange for any free-hostages agreement, and on Sunday he could not make a re-vote on the same following reports that six of the hostages had been killed.

In the meeting, mamboleo also learned that at least other members of the cabinet believed it would be wrong to change the Philadelphia corridor decision and would only enrage Hamas for killing the hostages.
Gallant responded that after the hostages were released, it would be easy for Israel to retake the corridor. “In eight hours we can capture the Philadelphia corridor except that we would have taken twenty to thirty hostages with us (in Israel). ”
Although Gallant is alone among ministers in the Israeli cabinet, however, he is joined by the majority of Israel’s security officials. Major General Nitzan Alon, who leads the hostages department of IDF, also said that the other remaining hostages are in danger which is only escalating.

Top n Great 🇰🇪
Kenya's presence in the top 20 medal tally at the Paris 2024 Olympics is a testament to its growing influence on the global stage, particularly in athletics; this achievement highlights Kenya's potential to become a significant economic power in Africa. One of the key factors contributing to Kenya's economic growth is its strategic location. As a gateway to East Africa, Kenya serves as a crucial hub for trade and commerce, with the Port of Mombasa being one of the busiest in Africa, facilitating trade with numerous countries.

Furthermore, Kenya has been diversifying its economy beyond agriculture, with significant investments in technology, manufacturing, and services. Nairobi, the capital, is often referred to as "Silicon Savannah" due to its burgeoning tech industry. Besides, the Kenyan government has been investing heavily in infrastructure projects, such as the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) and road networks, which enhance connectivity and boost economic activities. Similarly, Kenya boasts a young and educated population, which is a valuable asset for economic growth. The emphasis on education and skill development can drive innovation and productivity.

Lakini, several challenges need to be addressed for Kenya to become the biggest economy in Africa and a developed nation. Corruption remains a significant impediment to economic progress, and strengthening governance and transparency is essential. Additionally, addressing income inequality and ensuring inclusive growth is vital for long-term stability and development. Continued investment in healthcare and education is necessary to improve the quality of life and build a skilled workforce. Moreover, balancing economic growth with environmental sustainability is crucial, especially in the face of climate change.

To sum up, whereas Kenya has the potential to become a major economic power in Africa, achieving this status will require addressing existing challenges and leveraging its strengths.
