📰 First-of-its-kind lawsuit challenges U.S. courthouse immigration arrests involving children

A Honduran mother and her two young children are suing the U.S. government after being detained at a Texas immigration center—marking what could be the first legal challenge involving kids arrested at courthouses under current immigration enforcement policies.

The family had entered the U.S. legally using the Biden-era CBP One app, fleeing threats in Honduras. Despite complying with immigration procedures, they were arrested after a court hearing in Los Angeles and placed in detention.

The lawsuit, filed Tuesday, argues that their arrest violated their constitutional rights, including protection against unreasonable seizure and the right to due process.

📌 “The government cannot seize and indefinitely detain people who are following its own procedures,” said Columbia Law School professor Elora Mukherjee, one of the lawyers representing the family.

The case comes amid a wave of courthouse arrests targeting asylum-seekers, as part of a broader mass deportation initiative. Often, ICE agents wait outside courtrooms to detain migrants—even when judges dismiss deportation proceedings.

This case is especially urgent because the family’s 6-year-old son, who recently underwent chemotherapy for leukemia, has reportedly missed critical medical appointments. His health is deteriorating in detention, raising serious humanitarian concerns.

The Department of Homeland Security has not responded to requests for comment.

The US government has until July 1 to respond to the lawsuit. In the meantime, the family’s legal team has filed an appeal to stop their expedited removal.

👩‍⚖️ “When families with children do everything right, there must be protections,” said Kate Gibson Kumar of the Texas Civil Rights Project.

Claims from Hashem Al-Ghaili
Slain UnitedHealthcare CEO had deployed AI that automatically denied claims from sick people:

UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was murdered this week in Midtown Manhattan, just as outrage over the insurance industry reached new heights.

Last year, a lawsuit alleged that UnitedHealthcare deployed an AI system, nH Predict, to override doctors' approvals and deny benefits to sick and elderly patients.

The lawsuit, filed by the families of two deceased UHC customers, claimed the algorithm had a staggering 90% error rate and accused the company of being fully aware of its failings.

The use of AI in this case highlights the dangers of deploying artificial intelligence without proper oversight or ethical safeguards.

While AI holds immense potential to improve efficiency and decision-making, its misuse in sensitive industries like healthcare can lead to disastrous outcomes — denied treatment, suffering, and loss of life.

As companies rush to adopt AI-driven processes to cut costs, the consequences for human lives cannot be ignored. This tragedy serves as a stark reminder that AI must be implemented with transparency, rigorous oversight, and a moral imperative to prioritize people over profits.

Without careful deployment, the very tools meant to improve systems risk amplifying injustices and sparking unprecedented societal backlash.Follow, like and share our page: @ Mamboleo News

Plastic-eating insects have been discovered in Kenya.

In the ongoing fight against plastic pollution, scientists have discovered a surprising ally: the larvae of the Kenyan lesser mealworm, a native African insect with an appetite for polystyrene.

These tiny creatures can not only consume this pervasive plastic, commonly known as Styrofoam, but also break it down with the help of unique bacteria residing in their gut.

This discovery holds immense promise, particularly for Africa, a continent grappling with alarming levels of plastic waste despite contributing minimally to its global production. The researchers observed that the mealworms thrived on a mixed diet of polystyrene and bran, consuming and degrading the plastic more efficiently than those fed solely on polystyrene. This shows the importance of a balanced diet for these larvae to effectively tackle plastic waste.

Analysis of their gut revealed a diverse community of bacteria, including Proteobacteria and Firmicutes, known for their ability to adapt to various environments and break down complex substances. Specific bacteria like Kluyvera, Lactococcus, Citrobacter, and Klebsiella, known to produce plastic-digesting enzymes, were also abundant. This suggests that the mealworms' gut microbiome plays a crucial role in the plastic degradation process, possibly adapting to the unusual diet by fostering bacteria capable of breaking down polystyrene polymers. Scientists aim to isolate the specific bacteria and enzymes responsible for plastic degradation and harness their power in controlled environments like factories and recycling plants.

Breaking News: Tensions Rise Between Ruto and Gachagua Over Allegations of Deception⁉️

In a fiery address at ACK St. Patrick's Church in Kayole, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua didn't hold back as he called out certain leaders within the Kenya Kwanza coalition for misleading the public. Gachagua stressed the need for transparency, accusing some officials of being "economical with the truth" for far too long.

DP Gachagua urged his fellow leaders to truly listen to the people they serve, highlighting that effective leadership is about understanding and aligning with the aspirations of citizens. "Good leadership is listening to the people," he emphasized, noting that the public's frustration is palpable and deserves attention.

The Deputy President also pointed out that his commitment to honesty has made him a target within the administration. "I always tell the truth, and people have a problem with me," he stated, reflecting on the broader issue of deception in government.

DP Gachagua vowed to continue his truth-telling mission, asserting that he has built a strong bond with the Kenyan people. He observed that Kenyans are now more discerning and less likely to be swayed by falsehoods. "Kenyans have advanced, and they are very intelligent, so the time of cheating Kenyans is over," he declared, reinforcing his dedication to honest governance.
