NEWS UPDATE | ELDERS BLESS MELLY FOR NANDI TOP SEAT

TINDERET MP JULIUS MELLY OFFICIALLY INAUGURATED FOR NANDI GUBERNATORIAL RACE IN COLOURFUL ELDERS' CEREMONY

Tinderet Member of Parliament Hon. Julius Kibiwott Melly has been officially inaugurated to vie for the Nandi County Gubernatorial seat in the 2027 General Election.

The historic inauguration was led by Nandi elders at his home in Tinderet, in a traditional ceremony full of pomp, blessings and cultural significance. The elders draped him in leadership regalia and prayed for his journey to the county's top seat.

The event attracted a multitude — from all six constituencies of Nandi — including opinion leaders, clergy, youth, women groups, professionals, and political allies, turning his homestead into a sea of supporters chanting _"Governor Melly!"_

Melly, who has served Tinderet for three consecutive terms since 2013 and chairs the powerful National Assembly Education Committee, is widely seen as the front-runner in the 2027 gubernatorial contest.

His track record speaks for itself:
- Modern markets and last-mile electricity
- Millions in bursaries for needy students
- Strong push for TVETs, school infrastructure and youth empowerment
- A calm, development-focused leadership style

With this elders' blessing, Melly becomes one of the first candidates to officially declare his interest, setting the stage for a high-stakes battle to succeed Governor Stephen Sang as the 3rd Governor of Nandi.

The message from Tinderet is loud and clear — the race for Nandi has officially begun, and Julius Melly is in it to win it.

MAMMOTH CROWD AS JULIUS MELLY LAUNCHES GUBERNATORIAL BID AT HOME IN TINDERET.

The political ground in Nandi County shook today as Tinderet MP Hon. Julius Melly officially inaugurated his bid to become the 3rd Governor of Nandi County.

Hundreds of residents, elders, youth and leaders from across all constituencies thronged his home in Tinderet in a show of overwhelming support.

Seen by many as the most favourite candidate for 2027, Melly banks on a tremendous track record that stands out — 3 terms as MP, Chair of the Education Committee in Parliament, and a development champion behind markets, bursaries, roads and TVETs in Tinderet.

He now joins the crowded race for the county's top seat, but his launch has sent a clear signal — the battle for Nandi has begun.
