President Salva Kiir has appointed Lt. Gen. Giir Ngot Riiny, widely known as Giir Mapokdit, as the Deputy Director General for Administration and Finance at the General Intelligence Bureau under the National Security Service.

Prior to this appointment, Giir was promoted from the rank of Major General to Lieutenant General in a separate presidential decree.

He succeeds Lt. Gen. Gregory Deng Kuac, who was appointed last week as the Undersecretary for Defence at the Ministry of Defence and Veterans’ Affairs.
