It is called Kamikaze one way drone. It is cheap to produce but very effective on the battlefield. If you are a fighter and you hear it making noise above you like a lawn mower, just know that you are headed to the grave.
Today the British Secretary of Defence, John Healey claimed Putin has a hand in the way Iran is deploying drones in the Middle East.
Lt Gen Nick Perry, the British chief of joint operations, had advised Healey that it appeared that Russia had passed back tactical advice to Iran and its proxies on how to fly them.
Iranian drone pilots were “flying them much lower, and therefore they were more effective” in hitting targets, Perry said. That had “proven problematic”, he said, because Shahed drones were becoming one of Tehran’s more effective weapons.
According to the New York Times and Wall Street Journal, Iran has successfully used them to damage sophisticated early warning radars, communications and air defense systems at various US military bases in the Middle East.
According to open source Iran has over 70,000 drones in its inventory, but has only fired around 3000, since the beginning of the war.
The tragedy is America and its allies using a $4,000,000 missile to shoot down a drone that cost Iran $35,000 to produce.
