Popular Kenyan content creator and TikToker Baba Talisha, born Faustine Lukale, has opened up about the emotional reason he’s yet to pay dowry for his second wife, Miss Wanjey.
Responding to fans during a candid Instagram Q&A session, the father of two explained that while he deeply loves Miss Wanjey, he is holding off on formalizing their union due to a personal vow he made to his late wife, Milka Faustina, who died tragically in a road accident on Thika Superhighway in August 2020.
“It’s not out of disrespect to the woman I love now; it’s because of a promise I made to the woman I once loved and lost,” he said.
“My late wife may be gone, but the vow I made to her about her dowry still weighs heavily on my soul. Until I honour that, my spirit won’t rest.”
Until recently, Baba Talisha had kept Miss Wanjey’s identity hidden from the public. But following the celebration of their son, he finally unveiled her face—much to the delight of his fans.
“I chose to remain anonymous for personal reasons,” Miss Wanjey shared in a separate Instagram post. “Now that people know me, we move with grace.”
The TikTok star, known for his humorous parenting skits and candid storytelling, admitted that the decision not to visit Miss Wanjey’s family or pay dowry is one he wrestles with emotionally.
“Some promises live beyond the grave,” he wrote, alluding to the cultural and spiritual weight he places on honoring his late wife’s dowry first.
