Statement by Tabitha Mutemi, OGW, PR Warrior and the Chairperson, Association of Professional Broadcasters, on the Passing of Leonard Mambo Mbotela
It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the passing of a true icon in the broadcasting industry, Leonard Mambo Mbotela.
As an association, we are honored to have celebrated him during his 84th birthday in 2024 while he was still with us. We gave him his flowers, recognizing his immense contributions to our profession. It was a memorable occasion, marked by the signing of his book, Je, Huu Ni Ungwana?—a timeless reflection of his wisdom and impact.
Fondly known as "Majee," Mbotela was more than a broadcaster; he was a mentor, a trailblazer, and the voice of an era. His legacy transcends generations, shaping the past, present, and future of our industry. His unmistakable voice, his storytelling mastery, and his dedication to excellence have left an indelible mark that will resonate for years to come.
On behalf of the Association of Professional Broadcasters, we extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who were inspired by his work.
Fare thee well, our legend. Your voice will echo through history.
