UNIVERSITY OF NAIROBI – 2026/2027 ACADEMIC YEAR ADMISSION LETTERS

The University of Nairobi has processed admission letters for students admitted to the 2026/2027 Academic Year.
Commencement Date: 24th August, 2026
Students with registration numbers have been notified via SMS.
How to Access Your Admission Letter
Visit smis.uonbi.ac.ke.
Log in using your registration number (e.g., C3/3333/2026) as the username and your KCSE index number as the password.
Download your admission letter and joining instructions.
Complete and upload all the required forms and documents online.
Apply for a Scholarship and HELB loan by dialing *642 #. The application deadline is 31st August, 2026.

📌KMTC does not offer direct admission for basic certificate and diploma courses (pre-service programs).

📌All first-time student placements into regular KMTC programs must strictly go through the KUCCPS Student Portal. KMTC no longer processes direct parallel or self-sponsored applications for high school leavers.

📌The Exceptions: When KMTC Admits Directly
You can only apply directly via the KMTC Admissions Portal for the following specific tracks:

Upgrading Courses: Turning an existing certificate into a diploma.

Higher Diplomas: Advanced specialized training for practicing health professionals.

Short Courses: Brief specialized professional certificates.

Crucial Security Warning⚠️⚠️

Be very careful with anyone claiming they can give you a "direct admission letter" for certificate or diploma programs via WhatsApp or email. KMTC has explicitly warned that these are scams targeting desperate applicants during the ongoing September 2026 intake cycle. All legitimate selection happens through KUCCPS.

My daughter was admitted to KMTC march intake but never reported and neither did she apply for deferment. Does KMTC reserve her slot ama how does it go?

In that case, you have to reapply. Deferment allows the College to reserve your slot for a later time, but if you do not communicate, it sends a message that you are not interested, and KMTC therefore re-advertises the vacancy.

Guaranteed Spots: KMTC stated that students who successfully deferred their studies from March are fully permitted to move their admission to the September 2026 intake.

Combined Cohort: You will join and study seamlessly alongside the new fresh applicants being selected during the current application cycle.

Validity Limit: Keep in mind that KMTC policy states deferments are strictly valid for a maximum of one academic year.

Crucial Actions for You Avoid the KUCCPS Portal: Do not submit a fresh application on the KUCCPS Student Portal. The system is meant for new applicants, and trying to apply again can cause data duplication or invalidate your original slot.

KUCCPS and KMTC officially opened applications for the September 2026 pre-service intake on July 22, 2026, with the firm deadline set for August 11, 2026.

Regarding your eligibility as an already-placed student:
The System Block: The KUCCPS Student Portal strictly operates on a "one placement per intake" policy. If you have already been successfully placed in a degree or diploma course for the September cycle, the system will recognize your index number as "placed" and will automatically block you from submitting a new application for KMTC.

Inter-Institutional Transfer Window: KUCCPS recently opened its transfer window. If you wish to switch your current college placement to a different TVET or university, you must process it through the transfer portal before August 14, 2026. However, directly transferring a regular university placement into KMTC through this window is generally restricted.

The March 2027 Alternative: If you cannot bypass the portal block for this intake, you will remain eligible to apply for KMTC programmes when the next application window opens for the March 2027 intake.

Am i still eligible to apply for kmtc September intake when it opens?

Yes. If KUCCPS opens the application for the KMTC September intake and you meet the entry requirements for the course you want, you can still apply even if you have already been placed in a university through KUCCPS. KUCCPS has indicated that the September KMTC application opens after university placement is completed projected later this month or early August

However, keep in mind:
Being placed in a university does not guarantee that you will be selected for KMTC.

If you are successfully placed at KMTC and decide to join KMTC instead of the university, you should follow the official procedures regarding your university admission (for example, not reporting or formally withdrawing if required by the institution).
You cannot be enrolled in both programmes at the same time.
