The engagement with matatu operators, who constitute a significant segment of the Fund’s key stakeholders, was highly productive. Recognizing that they are frequently affected when accidents occur, the operators listened attentively to the presentations. The PCF team reaffirmed that, in the event of an insurer’s collapse, the Fund serves as a statutory safety net, ensuring that eligible claimants are compensated within 90 working days, up to a maximum of Ksh. 250,000. Additionally, the operators were taken through the procedure for lodging a claim through the claims portal.

Day Two update:
On the 2nd day, the team engaged with the Boda Boda riders in an informative and constructive sensitization session. It was observed that many of the riders initially lacked a clear understanding of the role of the Fund. By the end of the exercise, however, they expressed their appreciation for the program and committed to serving as ambassadors to ensure that the information is effectively disseminated at the grassroots level. They also assured the team that the same knowledge would be communicated to members of their SACCO. The five-day sensitization forum was officially opened by the DCC/PA/CC, Mr. Paul Kemei, who represented the County Commissioner. During the session, the Fund also provided the riders with branded reflector jackets as part of the outreach and visibility initiative.

Today, we engaged local journalists who will play a key role in sharing this information with communities at the grassroots level. This is part of our ongoing 5-day public awareness forum.

Policyholders Compensation Fund successfully conducted a two-day sensitization training for youth in Murang’a County. The sessions provided participants with valuable insights into the Fund’s mandate and key services, enhancing their understanding of how we support and protect policyholders.

This initiative formed part of the Fund’s broader dissemination strategy, which seeks to promote financial awareness and inclusion among young people through collaboration with Financial Sector Regulators and other stakeholders.

During the outreach, the team also engaged with claimants—encouraging them to lodge their claims for compensation and ensuring they are well-informed and empowered to access their rightful benefits.
