Many people think the Nairobi Securities Exchange is just a place for trading, but NSE is also a business. It earns money in several ways:
✔ Trading fees whenever shares are bought or sold
✔ Listing fees paid companies joining the NSE
✔ Annual fees paid every year by listed companies
✔ Selling market data like live prices and trading information
✔ Clearing and settlement charges for processing transactions
✔ CDS service fees such as share transfers and investor accounts
✔ Fees from trading bonds, ETFs, and derivatives
✔ Penalties charged when listed firms break rules
✔ Membership fees paid by brokers and trading participants

In short: NSE earns mainly through fees from trading and listing services.
